Art Forum Game Collab [voting]

The idea of a collaborative Art Forum game was floated to me not so long ago, I thought it could be a workable idea. I want to be democratic about what kind of game we decide to do, since it's everyones project. These are the ideas that have been suggested, I tried to come up with an example of each one to give everyone an idea of that type of game.

Scrolling Shooter:

Scrolling Brawler:

Multi-Character Brawler:

Platformer:

One-on-One Fighter:

Please only vote in this thread, only vote once and vote only for one game type.

Scrolling shooter.
While a scrolling brawler may be fun, it requires multiple pieces per individual character, which could cause the quality to hinder. A scrolling shooter is much simpler for designing characters and thus allows great creativity to be put into a single unit.

I vote Scrolling Shooter
It is a simple but effective game.

I vote for a scrolling shooter, seems like it will be the easiest to figure out and incorporate different art styles.

Look at my art!

Platformer

There can be one main character and everyone else can do a level and creatures or something you need to kill. Like a dude that has to travel the galaxy going to different planets/worlds... for some reason. That way there can be different styles/looks and it won't seem strange :P

If this ends up the case, BMK should definitely be the main character

I call dibs on the electric razor enemies then (electric razors shave his beard, which is what gives him his power)

people are extremely lazy, and doing a scrolling brawler will end up with lots of characters that float or roll, because no one wants to do walking animations. not to mention the filesize hit from all the FBF, Taking what I learned with red baron(which was a scrolling brawler collab).

I will go for

scrolling shooter.

One on One fighter

I think it would be awsome if each person could make a character or something, and work with the animators to make its actions.

Might be hard but thats my vote

Ultimately I'll provide whatever art I can for whatever one gets picked though.

I think they were talking about a double dragon type of thing, simple 2 frame walk, punch. stand set up, to compensate for all the art.

I'm going to vote for Scrolling Brawler I think if there is a layout on how many frames are needed for each character's animation cycle (different from boss characters) that it could definitely be doable. I get what MC is saying about it possibly looking cheesy due to lazyness, but I'm hoping that the people who want to participate will be willing to put in the effort, especially since it is only one character.

No matter what the end result for this vote is, I believe this is an absolutely fantastic idea for a collab and hope it has great success!

Scrolling shooter - can add simple animations if feeling adventurous

Although even what Mindchamber said, I would still give my vote out to Scroller Brawler.

And how is this gunna work out, is it in fact gunna be like Red Baron. . . Each different artist animates a different enemy or how will this all work out. . .?

Platformers is my choice.

They can be really good if they're polished enough.
A lot are pretty crappy though...

Im gonna go against the stream and say Multi-character Brawler
Sure it will be some more work, but we can always just only accept pieces that have sufficient animation. Also, this means everyones work is equal (basically... some differences can be made in speed/strength/hp...) which is cool.

Seeing as Im the only one voting for this, as it looks right now the side scrolling shooter will win.
If that is the case, ill go ahead and suggest that enemies do have to be animated (a bit). Also: how will be determined who gets to draw a boss and who draws the cannon fodder?

Scrolling Brawler.

Like I said in the lounge, it only need 5 sprites. It should all work out if a good template is given and the collab is organized well.

first of all scrolling shooter!?!... theres sooooo many of these types of games on newgrounds... they are easy to make beacuse there is very little animation to do... as for one on one fighter... i dont really like playing them by myself... the best type of games i can think of is...

Scrolling Brawler or Multi-Character Brawler

as they are fun and can combind alot of artwork and animation... :3
