Auditioning For Dyht? Vol 3

These auditions will be to take part in Did You Hear That? Vol 3
I figured this would be a good way to kick of this new year :)

Here are links to the first two to see maybe get you interested:

Just a really basic rundown of the concept.

Everyone in the collab picks out 1 random sound effect of their choosing. After each person has contributed ONE sound. Then I compile the sound effects into a random order.

This complete sound file is then sent out to everyone, and they are not allowed to adjust it in ANY way. They may not add/remove sound effects, or change the timing between the sound effects.

That's the trick of the collab. Everyone will animate the same sound clip, independently and in secrecy, so there is no way to know who you're working with, so nobody steal ideas from one another. Meaning every individual idea that emerges from the collab will be 100% based on their own interpretation.

The series is improving, with a growing fan base, with the 2nd time scoring significantly better!

In the original, I hand picked everyone, and we worked entirely through PMs here on Newgrounds. In volume 2 I picked about half, and held auditions for the other half to pick of some talent hiding from me in community here :)
I'll be doing the same thing here in Volume 3!
Everything will still be done through PMs of course.

As I did for volume 2, I am getting a 100% new team together! I would feel like a tool picking and choosing people to stay and go, so to be fair, they are all cut!! We'll be starting fresh with a new set of 9 collaborators who have never been a part of DYHT!
;)

So here is your chance to get involved Newgrounds!
Your auditions start now, if you so choose! Post me links to what you view as your BEST work. I prefer if you can link to Newgrounds submissions of yours, but if your best was in a collab, please host just your part on spamtheweb or dumpgrounds or something for me to check out.
I have a few new members already in mind. But not the full 9 I need.
This also gives a chance for some promising animators here on the BBS to maybe take a step out of their comfort zones, and maybe get a little bit or recognition for their part!

At this stage I'm not looking for sound files, just animation skills.
I plan to pick and choose some fresh blood from here on the forums. And if I end up with a few heavy-hitters, than that's pretty awesome too!
I have categories that I will be judging everyone on. I might creep your profiles I bit and see what you got going on :) In the end the parts will go to those that score highest out of my criteria. Also, if I feel like you'll be unreliable or a pest to work with, then don't expect anything.

The auditions could drag out a couple weeks, depending on how long it takes me to pick out the best team! Once everyone is chosen, we will revert to the secrecy of the PMs!
Mystery!

For now, post here, and we'll see who we can find.
Good luck to everyone. I will alert you to your membership in the collab through PMs as well.
Because I'm a dink like that. In the best way possible of course.

tl;dnr version:
Are you good at Flash and want to participate in a collab? Then PM me or post on the forum with your best work and I'll let you know if you can be in the collab or not.

PS 90% of this was the same thread I made for last year haha. I'm just too lazy to be bothered making something I already made once anyways.

Neato.

Well, I've got two things that you can think of as my "best."

I have been on an animating "hiatus" lately if you will, so I haven't released many things recently.

First, an unfinished Christmas animation. Use this one to judge more on my art "skill", and not necessarily my animation skill.

Second, my latest full-length animation, "The Escapades of Generic Protagonist." The fight scene probably showcase some of my best animation skill, but the whole thing shows more of my skills with motion and stuff. I suggest you watch it on YouTube so you can pause at parts, skip around, etc.

And you can look at some of my older works to see some of my creative/comic skill, but the animation is horrid.

Let's hope I get chosen! *crosses fingers*

Sounds like fun, plus the last 2 were pretty successful, gratz on that

Just gimme a little while to freshen up and ill show something :)

Sorry, about double-post, but I forgot something.

I'm working on another little animation with the same guy who co-wrote Generic Protagonist. I doubt it will be out before audition is over, but I can send you the WIP Flash movies over PM.

Actually managed to dig up some old unfinished stuff:
Fiiiiirst
Secoooooond
4th.

Note: This stuff was done over 3 years ago, but I've barely touched flash since. So I'll be a bit rusty to get going but being 3 years older should make up for that. Tells me what ya think<a <a

Hm. I'll need a bit more than that to go by.
Even if it's something only like 10 seconds long. I just need a feel for you style and animating abilites.
The auditions will be open for a week, maybe two. So you have time

I don't think I ever saw the first two videos but it sounds like a cool idea.

Here's my best animation. I know it's a collab but you should be able to find my part easily.

I thought this would've been an invite only collab?

No!

Hi Goat-Guy, I'm definitely interested in taking part in this LOVELY series.
It's too bad though, I don't have very many animations posted to Newgrounds. Howevs, I am an active animator.
Most recently, I made a part for the 3rd 24 hour collab (Side B, which isn't out at the moment)
That can be seen here, and while you're at it, you can check out the other animations I have posted on that account. I spent an entire 24 hours working on that collab part, so I can safely say that I can be relied on.
At the moment, I'm working on
this.
I've made a number of animations under the alias of "4" on this youtube channel, that my friends and I made(I linked you to the playlist with all of my videos).

I really hope I can take part in this, it's my new years resolution to further my craft, and make a name for myself. After my plate is clear, I hope to start a series, and I can't think of a better way to start the year than to get in on a tried and true collab series. Later, broski.

I sure didn't! I say go for it, just as long as you don't start bashing each other. I'll have to stop it if it starts turning into a flame war. I trust you'll keep it civil :)

It was the first time around. Volume 2 I held auditions. And I figured I'd do that again this time! I wanted to open the collab up, and not make it seems like an exclusive country club or something Haha.

Oh boy! This sounds quite fun indeed!

I honestly don't know what my "best" work is, but I have been in the 24 hour collabs.

Here's our most recent one we did.

And Here's my most recent solo flash.

hope this helps :/

I finally got a chance to view your YouTube stuff.
From what I can see, you can definitely draw pretty well. But I really haven't seen any animating. Your youtube channel mostly just had drawings with voice overs, so I don't have much to go by from you still.

Maybe if you could just do a short 10 seconds of animation that actually uses FBF and stuff?
I dunno. But I can tell you right now I don't have enough to judge at the moment.
Your 24hours part had a great style, but again any sort of character movements or anything like that was minimal.

Okie-dokes, I'm gonna make a flash for my friend's birthday, and it's coming up pretty soon, so that's some good timing. I plan to make it action-filled and dynamic, so you'll see more full body shots. Keep me on your mind :D

Here is a superhero flying that I am doing for another collab as well as a walk cycle which only took me 30 minutes. If I took more time in it, I could create a design and everything.

------------

The other thing that is in there is from the 60 Frame collab 3 which I was going to add in originally but I changed my mind as for it was not the greatest work. After that piece I had created in the 60 Frame Collab, I practised lip synching, so now I can create it so much better.

You will find it at the end, as well as the credits. Although I did not actually do the animation on the side of the bar, except Pacman.

Here is the walk cycle, fly and 60frc3 thing.

Here is another project that I had originally ditched for this animation I was doing.

Anyway, I hope that is enough. I am over typing.

Remember, most of that is stuff I had created before more practise.

If you have something in the works that you feel is currently the best showcase of your work, then feel free to PM me a link rather than sharing it with the whole internet before your comfortable sharing.

I had people do that last year, and I'm perfectly fine with it.

To lpfann2 specifically, you have a while to polish it up if you'd like. I'll post a warning in the thread when I'm getting ready to and the auditions

Heres mine: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/b845 fe667adaa70540545d3aebc677bf

Its really short, and its not a great example of my potential, but its what I've got so i'll stick to it. You may have to watch it a few times to catch some details but enjoy.

Also wait a little at the begging with the white screen.

Good luck everyone!

I skimmed through the reviews of DYHT2 to see if anyone said anything about joining the next collab.

Sure enough, I found two people that you may want to inform about the tryouts, if you haven't already:

xionico "I can only hope that there will be a third one, I so want in"
masterofLULZ "omg, i want to be in this"

I'm impressed with your ability to make such a short piece 7.8mb :S
I like the use of textures, but you're probably importing entire 3 mb files for something as simple as the tiny flowers on the target. If max you're using a 50x50 area of one texture, you should probably be sure to only import about 60x60 of it into Flash to save room.
Also importing them at their full 2000x2000px area, then shrinking it in Flash is a bad choice. I bet that huge swf size could be condensed to 200kb. That's just a guess. But you could PM me the Fla and I'll show you. This has nothing to do with the collab, just to help you out in the future :)

Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the positive attitude!
Hopefully I can see something a little longer from you soon.

Oh man thats why it took so long to load. I must have ruined my good chance at getting into the collab. I just thought this was a good piece to show my true potential. I like the way the bow moves. The only one of my longer pieces was made quite a while ago and doesn't show my true potential. Its called colors. Its pretty choppy. If you're interested click the link xD (its also alot better with music).

I wasn't saying that it was hurting your chances of getting in the collab. My internet is pretty fast, so I didn't have to wait long for it to load. That was more or less of just a type of for-future-reference type thing for you :)

I did give colours a watch too. It looks pretty good. But like I've told lots of people, there is time to work on something longer. Something around 10 seconds of quality work that shows you have what it takes!
Give it your best!

Well making something totally new isn't necessary.
You could add to the archer animation, and just keep going along animating that if you'd like (although take my recommendations on the textures so that it's not such a large file size)
