Construct 2030 Jam Winners! 2014-07-04 10:29:51

The judging has concluded and it's time to announce the winners of the Construct 2030 Jam!

Special thanks to Scirra, LucidShadowDreamer and Kajenx for assisting with the judging process.

1st - Business Licenses + $400 cash

Very cool game, controls well and has clever level designs. I would love to see gamepad support!

Scirra: "Beautiful stylish game, great tempo. A challenging game as well."

2nd - Business Licenses + $300 cash

Visually stunning game with a great time mechanic that has you getting in your own way.

scirra: "A short but gorgeous game. Really can only fault it on it's length! Unique and fun concept, all fits together very well."

3rd - Business Licenses + $200 cash

The mouse aiming makes jumping around and shooting enemies tricky but there is so much great stuff going on here. A version with gamepad support and right analog stick for shooting would be nuts.

Scirra: "Very fun shooter, all round well made game!"

4-9th - Personal Edition Licenses

Would love to see more artists put these tools to use like this for amazing point and click adventures!

Scirra: "Very uniquely styled and beautiful game with good humour. An awesome example of what can be achieved in the free version!"

Really impressive mechanic with the sound waves revealing the level!

Scirra: "Very original and well implemented concept. Love the way you see in the game through things that make noise. End effect gives a pretty spooky and solitary feel which works really well. Quite a challenging game though!"

A realistic take on what 2030 could really be like!

Scirra: "Interesting game concept, good graphics and humorous story line."

Scirra: "Well made all round game, very fun mechanics and controls. Really enjoyable!"

Scirra: "Really fell in love with the main character in this game! Very cool concept, and a good challenge."

Scirra: "Awesome well paced and good looking arcade style game!"

15 Runner-Ups: $25 USD Amazon Vouchers from Scirra

Scirra: "Very cool music and simple but effective visual style."

Scirra: "Love the style of this game. Controls reminds me of the game "Echo the Dolphin". The exploration idea works really well, and the lighting is done nicely as well. The depth mechanic is a clever way of managing game difficulty."

Scirra: "Trickier game than I anticipated! Again, a beautifully styled game with a good story line."

Pressing left and right without up to wall jump takes some getting used to on the keyboard but opens up some new gameplay experiences! Really enjoyed playing with a gamepad, solid controls!

Another realistic reflection on life in 2030.

I know it's buggy but it feels great on a game pad and I want to play more of it!

all 134 entries!

Thank you everyone who participated in the jam and I'm looking forward to playing your future games! The most exciting thing for me this time around was getting to play a bunch of games with my Xbox controller. I would definitely recommend everyone consider gamepad support in their games when it makes sense. If you do, try to include menu support so players don't have to alternate with their mouse.

If you already own the Construct software you have been awarded as a prize, it would be awesome if you found another deserving dev to pass the software along to. When you play their future games, you can know you helped make it happen.

I'm gonna go curl up in a ball now and hope everyone agrees with the rankings! This was a tough one to judge, with a lot of variety between what everyone liked best.

Three days remain to vote for the Best of June! Check your account page to see if you're on the judging panel.

Happy Independence Day to everyone here in the US!

I really enjoyed Being Time. It certainly had it's tricky bits, but I've never seen a game like it before and it's well worth playing. Check it out if you haven't already.

This is what is really exciting about software like Construct 2 and Stencyl; you get to see what artists can unleash when turned loose with the right tools.
