This is club for people who like to listen progressive rock, like Pink Floyd or Rush(These are just an examples, you don't need to listen those bands). Here we can 'bout bands,(music)styles and of cource, gigs.^^

So,you need to tell your favorite prog-bands and you're in. Rules are simple, just like in other clubs: no flaming,no spamming,no racism and all...

Enjoy and have fun!

DIBS!
I'm heavily into prog, probably my second favourite genre.
Favourite band; The Mars Volta.

Manson's not progressive.... not even in the slightest.
I've never heard A Perfect Circle, but my friend loves them and he's a big fan of prog. Plus they apparently have James Maynard in; which is always a good thing.

Hmmm...you know anything like a prog. archive like they've got of metal, 'cause I've to check that out then...

Not that I'm aware of. Plus progs not as liked as metal anyway. Its a rare taste.
Also metal has the whole 'is it metal, is it not' element which divides the genre heavily.

Its easy to tell if someone is progressive. Just listen to bands like The Mars Volta, Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater and Opeth (though the last two are Prog-Metal).

And then listen to Manson. You'll find that prog tends to have longer songs. Stranger concepts. Exploration of sounds (lots of instrumental parts). And just generally being different from general music.

Meh, the Floydian Society kinda doubles as this, as we kinda lost the topic of Pink Floyd after a few pages. Now we mostly exchange bootlegs and talk about conserts we go to. Mostly prog.

I don't take revenue from my profile.

Thnx -Nev- I just have to change a lot of genre idicating that something which isn't prog. to something else and visa versa.

Dream Theater 'nd Pink Floyd both are very good

http://www.progarchives.com/
a site which might come in handy..

sorry for not making it a link immediatlely but I'm doing something wrong and I don't know what so just copy/paste it to adress-bar

Response to Progressive Rock Club Jun 4, 2006

I was just about to form a club like this, but now I don't have to! Sweet indeed.
May I join? My bandlist:

-Dream Theater (goes without saying)
-Opeth(GGGRREAT)
-Porcupine Tree(everyone should check them out!)
-Rush(I only know a few songs from them, though)
-Nobuo Uematsu(just a joke, but really, his music has many elements in common with prog rock, just listen to Dancing Mad by his band The Black Mages)

Response to Progressive Rock Club Jun 4, 2006

I looked at the progarchive.com homepage, and it had Opeth, who I think are awesomely cool.

But I don't really know what to class as progressive, I listen to music because I like it..

Also are SOAD prog?

No, they're not progressive rock. For progressive rock, I havn't listened to much of that music. Listened to some progressive metal such as Opeth and Dream Theater, but that's about it. :| However, I'll think about listening to some more progressive rock/metal music some time in the future.

Aren't the Black Mages a different band who like chipped in once to play J-E-N-O-V-A?
Still, the mans utter brilliance.

Prog wise I also love these bands:
Radiohead (Ok, Computer is a great album, on many, many levels).
Buckethead (Crazy and fun... and talented :D)

Nope they're the band eho've mainly made the music for the Final Fantasy games, mostly under the supervision of the genius Nobuo Uematsu...
JENOVA is just one of their great songs

Response to Progressive Rock Club Jun 4, 2006

This is kinda strange, cuz B_...ya know who I mean. It's hard to spell...B_HO_V...ARH! But anyway,he has added to his signature text, that member of prog-club,but I haven't tell anybody, who's in.

Tuovila, your list is good, your in. What Rush-songs you like?

Yeah, I borrowed some from the library once, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and Nursery Cryme.

'twas allright but haven't looked further into it.

Oh, also, I kinda dig Rush too. I got Permament Waves as a vinyl, and I've even listened to it a few times. I also got The Yes Album, and Final Cut by Pink Floyd as vinyls too.

Kay, I suppose you want a band list - I'll include albums I own, if I do that is.

The Mars Volta: Deloused In The Comatorium, Frances The Mute.
Radiohead: Ok, Computer
Buckethead: No albums, but I have loads of downloaded songs.
Dream Theater: Images And Words
Opeth: My Arms, Your Hearse (Shall be seeing them in five days at Download).
Muse: Absolution, Hullabuloo (Seen them live at V2004 too).
At The Drive-In: Acrobatic Tenement
King Crimson: In the Court of the Crimson King

Prog bands of whom I don't own albums, but like nonetheless:

Pink Floyd (I really need some of their albums!).
Devin Townsend (Kinda seeming him in four days... though its Strapping Young Lad. But I hope he plays his own stuff).
Nobou Uematsu (If he is to be considered prog).
Tool (Seeing them in four days at Download too).
Yes
The Beatles (They had their moments in my opinion).
Frank Zappa

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot some:

Primus
Genesis
Coheed and Cambria (They certainly have prog elements, ie. In Keeping The Secrets Of Silent Earth 3. Seeing them at Download :D).

Primus

Not sure am I heard

Genesis

YES!

Coheed and Cambria (They certainly have prog elements, ie. In Keeping The Secrets Of Silent Earth 3. Seeing them at Download :D). Kay,I think I'll count this too.

ONE THING
I'm not good in prog-things,I'm only a beginner,so please,be patient,cuz I may need sum help,kay? Let's be friends and all that. :D

One more,I think Pink Floyd's Saucerful of Secrets just sucks. Dunno why,cuz I usually love Pink's music, but in SOS there's only one song, what you can listen without pissin' off. That's Jugband Blues.:D
Other sucks. :(

ONE THING ONE THING

Well, A Passage To Bangkok, which we actually played live with my band and Animate, tough the words are really strange in that one... As I said, I'm still quite a stranger to the band but I'll see to them later on when I have some time. So much to do****ad, so little bandwith...

Response to Progressive Rock Club Jun 4, 2006

I forgot to mention,in this club I want you to sometimes write a little(or little bigger:D)review from some gigs,CD's,DVD's and so on...

So,I just finished Rush in Rio,three hour Rush-consert from Rio in...damn. I didn't find a year,I must ask it tomorrow.
So the gig was awesome, with Rush's(IMO)best songs, except Fly By Night. The sound was excellent and the atmosphere came to my room, where I alone watched it.^^ In gig there was fuckin' lotta people. I mean, there must been at least 200 000 people!

I just don't get how Giddy Lee(That guy from Iwo Jima:D)can play as good, fast and strange. I don't have enough fingers! Those bass-komps are brilliant, but very complicated,so I think I can't play them with my band,as cover, cuz I easily forget...:S I have to train 'em lots.

(I recommend to watch some books with Rush-tabs,songs are really complicatd and odd)

But he also plays guitar and keyboard...what a dude!!!

I really recommend that DVD-box,it has two DVD's in that box,one with that gig, another with extras, but I don't want to watch 'em now(too tired to concentrate)...I'll tell, when I've done it.
I'm really gonna buy that DVD-box and surely watch it again and again...

The reason why I thought I was in was: You've started the topic actually in the Metal Hell by asking if there already was a prog. club...
I then answered that if you would start such a club I could join the club...
You then replied with the text "I made t, you're in" so that's why I thought that I was in from the start...

If you still want me to delete it from my signature, just mail or reply me

So,list,please

Oh,sorry, for beeing so asshole, but you guys little confused me for takin'"too long steps"...I really didn't have sense who's in and so on...so I wanted nwew lists which I could watch and then say,are you in... :)
