Interesting explanation of 666:
2 is the number of order. 3 is the number of chaos. Societies based on order (ie. chirstianity) are 2-based. Societies based on chaos (ie. witchcraft) are 3-based.
6 is a perversion of 2 by 3; it is Order turned corrupt. Having three of those numbers just compounds the corruption. And that is what '666' stands for.
'course you could look at it from another direction too... order and chaos are two polar extremes, making '6' the balancing center. '666' would then be 3-fold balance, which according to several religions is what is termed a 'confirmation of synchronicity'. basically the 'rule of three' means that if something happens 3 times, you know it's more than coincidence. So the number '666' would be confirmed balance and harmony.
That's how I like to think of it anyways...
