I agree 100% with the above poster.
Also if we can make live human clones with the same conscious and mind capacity and intelligence as the orignal and normal aging I think I would like to create a clone of my self when i'm around 30 and raise the clone baby till i'm like 50.
That way if I ever die I could, in a sense, live on forever.
i kind of agree. it would be very interesting to see how yourself (provided the clone came out with EXACTLY the same personality and intelligence and physicall level) could have differed due to your own influence.
i think it would be very fun to have a clone the exact same age as you, not a twin, but a clone who doesnt legally have to go to school, work, ect. then they could stay at home and have fun or do reports or assignments or design things. and you could both go to school every other day. one would have to take intensely good notes for the second to follow.
another interesting thing would be having an exact physicall and mental equall. you could both hone your skills but playing sports, doing body shots, playing chess, checkers, and go, fun debates, video games (i think you get where i am going with this) having yourself as a rival who can actually be interacted with would have no limit to the amout you could acheive.
of course, since you cant clone yourself and get someone your own age, i dont think i would like it that much. as far as spare organs go, take care of yourself, eat right, exersise, dont drink or do drugs, and chances are you wont need a replacement organ. if you do, cross that bridge when you come to it. and dont be a totall prick either, when i die, im going to donate every organ and a sizeable blood transfusion (sucks they cant keep that preserved.). your not going to need it when you die, and someone else might need it to stop themselves from dieing (of course if i developed a terminal illness or got an STD then i would be sad and not give up my organs.). there is millions of other people who share my mindset, so i can only hope that there are enough who share it and my organ and blood type.
realize, that your clone isnt in the generall street term a "Clone". they are more like an identicall twin of a different age. They look the same, and might have dispositions towards athleticism or acne or intelligence, but they wont end up the same as you. Athletes have to train hard to become physically fit, and need good coordination. geniuses have to study to become that way. sociall people are like tha because of their previous exposiures and reactions. an underlying recessive may have mixed oddly in cloning, so it is comepletely possible (although unlikely) to come out with a clone of the opposite sex as you. different levels of testosterone and pheramones and other chemicalls which determine physicall size and strength may have been given off in different levels. also, a clone would almost definitely fall prey to the bane that ruins so many good shows and games and toons. "who am i? why am i here? i shouldnt exist. im not natural." those are the things they would constantly ask and tell themselves.
next problem: overpopulation. the world already has cronic food shortages in regions, the smog given off from cars and other methods of transformation is horribly high already, the oil costs are rising as the supplies fall. why add another mouth to feed, another car on the road, another gas buyer, if your not even going to do it naturally in the way god intended? (braces self for the unfounded atheist to scream "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOD!!!!11oneone and prepares to ignore it)
also, dose cloneing yourself give you pleasure? no, and if it goes wrong there can be problems later on for either you or the clone. why not just go get a wife, and produce a fairly accurate reproduction of yourself, in a way that grants immense pleasure?
also some of the people have mentioned that we should clone foodstock such as cows. it has been proven that clones have a lower immunity to various deises and ailments. i personally dont want my hamburger to have gotten west nile from a mosquito right before it was slaughtered. on the subject of the slaughter, lets take a look at the sluaghter houses shall we? how many of you have droven past a slaughter house and wondered what that disgusting smell was? its the guts of all the cows they have sluaghtered that day. everything they cant grind up, put in a package and sell as fresh meat. the pile gets bigger and bigger untill the end of the day when they can take it to other facilities to dispose of it. next thing, have you ever been to a sluaghter house and seen how they are smashed against each other waiting in line to be killed? desiese in that environment is likely to spread like poking an icecream stick house will nock it down. with clones and their weaker immune sistem, instead of comparing it to an icecream stick house, its more like a house of cards.
so, cloning could have positive effects in the way of spare organs, but since it isnt impossible to obtain donated organs in other ways, and there are any number of negative effects (i probly havent even covered them all), i say, cloning=bad.
