I like the concept. It retains the idea of Mario, yet has enough of a difference from most clones to stand out. Two things to work on:
1.The ground has a tendency to hide where mario is. Makes it hard to see koopas, especially. Don't know if this was intentional.
2.Mario seems to slide around a lot. I know you are trying to emulate the feel of a real Mario game, but you took it a little too far. Take it down a notch and it will be perfect.
