This was really an animation I did for fun over a couple of afternoons. This is my first submition to NG. I have been animating now for about 2 years with flash. I'm currently working on an animated short along with some animators and am considering posting the final on NG. This is not about anything inperticular it is just an experiment. And I'm not looking for crits or even comments. I have already received all the information that I want on what COULD but won't be improved on this animation. And this is not going to be edited as it was for FUN! This was originally posted on the JA forums but we decided that it would be a good idea to venture onto NG now. I would like to stress that I'm not trying to advertise or porously use NG to promote JA in any way. If you feel this is being done, feel free to edit any details. But most of our forum members works do contain a link to the JA forums, but the purpose of the animation is not to promote this link, so I'm guessing it stays within the guidelines. There will prolly be more submissions following this from other JA animators.
*answers to some questions and reviews*
Firstly Thnx for the kind words everyone! I didn't think ppl here would even glance at it lol. I am currently working on a full colour short animation called EYES, which I am aiming to finish this summer (or at least get the trailer out).
Just flicking through the reviews and noticed a few things.
1: Some of you wanted to know exactly how exactly how this was produced. Well for a start its frame by frame animation done with an Intuos 2 wacom directly into flash using the pencil tool. There were a few motion tweens added for panning and such.
2: ah yes the soundtrack. Originally I put on a high paced game music sound track. But then ppl at JA said that it didn't suit it. So I did something different by putting some Lou Reed over the top! I guess that didn't really suit either, next time I'll just make the music myself.
3: For anyone that is interested in seriously getting into animation, DRAW, DRAW AND THEN DRAW SOME MORE! I may not be the greatest drawer/animator but I can't stress that enough. Secondly some helpful books that have probably popped up allot, such as the Burne Hogarth books and Richard Williums animator's survival guide.
4: I think I saw someone saying that this looked like a dbz animation or something? I mean I wouldn't really know, I've seen some of Toriyama's work, I think I've only seen a few episodes of DBZ and didn't like them at all :/. Although Toriyama had done some great Toriyama it's not a style I aspire to or really know enough about. Really I take my influence from animators such as Koji Morimoto (animation director of Akira and the animatrix short "beyond").
