Great potential

I have LEARNED to love TD games if the graphics and gameplay is good. This game lives up to my standard and I see a great potential with a few adjustments.
You warned about the difficulty in advance. And you're right - It IS hard.
And as another wrote, I also think that the difficulty curve is too steep. Some edges needs to be cut and the playability will be increased.

- If you'll make a kind of tutorial or easend up the strength of the hordes in the first part, to give the player an understanding how to combine his forces while setting up defence by using the scarce resources.
That would/ could give a step-by-step understanding of how to build up a strategy in the game.

- A more slow introduction to the different kinds of enemies so you'll get to know your opponents better (and your own forces as well).
As I see it, you'll meet to many different kinds of enemy forces too fast in the game, which for me seems to be too confusing and hard to learn about the attacking forces pros and cons.
It makes it difficult to create a logic defence.

If you'll die to fast again and again the player will lose his/ her interest in the game. With this game I think it would be a shame.

aartform responds:

I agree with your ideas on pacing and learning strategy. Some shorter levels with more focus on specific monster types and strategies to beat them might be a good introduction - before the more freeform complicated levels.

review

This will be good when you balance everything out. BTW, get rid of the cutsie graphics.

aartform responds:

I agree on the balance - getting feedback from loads of players helps that.
You've got me thinking about different art styles now - mmm :)

Mediocre at best

I generally like to play tower defense games but I do not care much for this one. The difficulty curve is extreme and there doesn't seem to be any cues to help you figure out a better strategy. Enemies feel like they are nearly impossible to kill and upgrades do little to help against the ever increasing HP of your enemies on every wave. You spend most of your time in hyper speed trying to get some cash which comes at a slow pace anyway. It just isn't fun to play.

aartform responds:

This is a thinker's game. Certainly not easy.

It's not how much cash you have - but how you spend it. Try getting good combos of weaken and damage for a attack type (Oil + Fire is a good one, Necro + Physical Attacks is another).

Upgrades will eat through your cash very quickly. If you want to build more units you might have to resist upgrading your existing troops.

its alright

Its basically another tower defense game. im getting tired of those.

It's really great but...

It's insanely hard, the rate at which you get gold is too slow. The combinations you need on some levels is almost impossible to infer from logic.

aartform responds:

That is a great epithet - "Insanely Hard TD". Keep an eye on the unit descriptions and try out different combinations to win.

It does take a bit of time to learn - and you will die. I got some non TD players to test it - and yes they died over and over again, but now they've worked out the tricks they can win a lot of the levels without losing health.
