how do i reload?

Satyre responds:

You mean the application or the ammunition?

For the ammunition, there is no reload. It is more meant to be a strategy game, where you choose your max amount of ammo during the upgrade phase. During the phases you need to spend it wisely on the right ships, otherwise it will be wasted fast.

Good strategy for going for that 750K medal (and incidentally unlocking most of the rest of the medals in the process) is go into Options and play the game on Hard (but not Extreme) difficulty. On Extreme you'll probably just get swarmed and die in the later stages, even fully upgraded everything.

And then from there you'll want to power up the default gun and also the missiles gun. Put no upgrades whatsoever into the freeze gun. And as far as upgrading the ship hull health, don't go all the way, but maybe upgrade to 20 HP or so is fine. I'd probably throw my upgrades mostly into the missiles gun first, with some into the default gun, but you'll end with full upgraded default and missiles guns.

And then just shoot/kill everything, in particular paying attention to those tanks coming in off the sides (use missiles against those), and try to conserve missiles primarily for stronger enemies and/or when you're being swarmed, so you kill more than one with a single missile.

Beat the game that way, and that'll leave you with maybe the Researcher medal to unlock, which just go in your options and see which enemy you need to kill more of (probably one of the shielders) and just play again (this time on Easy) concentrating on killing the correct kind of shielder, then go back to that options panel to see, and it should unlock them if you got them all. Don't worry on the two tank types as there is only a type 1 on both of those, not a type 2 or 3. You've full completion without a type 2 or 3 on those.

Satyre responds:

Nice guide, thanks for the review :)

There is so much better Akcion games on Newgrounds.com...but this game is not bad too!!

Satyre responds:

Thanks for reviewing. Considering this was my 2nd game ever made I think it is enjoyable in some ways :)

GREAT game man, congratulations! Your other games are also very cool, you are doing a great job here! Your idea here is simple yet very entertaining.

On the formal aspects: the sound is good, but I think you could improve it to match the pace of the game. For example, at the end of every level make it the hardest part, with more aliens showing up and put a faster, more intense sound. I think this could be cool, if you find suitable to your idea (since, you know, the aliens are trying to kill the dudes; they should get more and more violent as the night goes on and humans are able to defend themselves).

On the graphic part: very cool! Gives the game kind of a retro look but way better. I think that the terraforming proccess should show. You know, the base should get larger, you could make some changes in the scenario as the game goes on.

The one big problem you got here: balancing. The challenge is too big for the beginer, it makes people uninterested very fast (unless they are lucky enough to get the strategy at a first try). I consider myself a pretty good gamer and yet I had to start this about 15 times over to get a good grip on the strategy needed. The casual player usually doesn't have this kind of patience and time. You should begin the tutorial with some stratery guide lines, sinc people will certainly try to upgrade power first.

I hope you find this useful somehow. Congratulations again, this is a very solid work!

Satyre responds:

Hey, thanks for your detailed review.

Great ideas with the changing music and graphical changes of the mainbase. I thought at this too and already have 3 versions of the night music, but due to the big filesize i didn't want to use them. I already used a changing background as you may notice, but also due to the filesize I didn't want to put some new graphics inside the project. But if there will be a sequel or other project with changing environments, I'll definately use some more items.

The balancing seems to be a great problem. When producing the game, the most playtesters said that it is very easy :D and I didn't change the difficulty cause of this. Sadly it will took to much time to change the difficulty now, but I'll add a link to a video with 1 possible way to beat the game as a strategy guide in the next update.

Thanks again.

Not bad.

Satyre responds:

Thanks.
