Verily, quite awesome.
Well, the visuals were rather stunning, the animation very good, and it seemed overall as if everything had been carefully considered. The fact that we never see the face of any of the adults, including in their portraits, coupled with the fairly close shots of the little girl adds to the solitude, and helps us sympathize with the main character. The black and white, as well as the somewhat Burtonesque appearance certainly helped the mood, the character design was especially good. The angle of the shots was well thought out, and the use of shadow excellent, especially in the destruction of the town. Little things, like the fact that it is always night, and the rather Victorian appearance of the house, were very cool, I also rather liked the storybookish feel, and the choice of implied violence over gore, an essentially bloodless rampage.
The narrator was perfectly chosen, and the slow, quiet voice chosen helped the storybook feel of the film, the choice of music was perfect.
Overall, this is one of the better films on Newgrounds, one of the best shorts I’ve seen.
