I love how you made fun of everything! Seriously, if the penguin and Koopa really were good, why would you have to beat them first? Heck, the same logic can be used for Diddy Kong Racings. You can't get the balloons without defeating your own friends in a race. If they really wanted the world to be saved, wouldn't they let you win? Also, why does Taj not give them to you right away? But seriously, make fun of Partners in Time! After playing Superstar Saga so much, that game was a disappointment!
