Reviews for "Time Squad [Part 1]"

Great!

Hm, how did "our" Blockhead know what the Scientist said to the Blockhead in the past?

The-Swain responds:

The idea behind Blockhead in Time Squad is that no matter what he says, the people around him are just gonna respond as though he said something profound. I think why he repeated what he heard in the past has to do with the Conscience in Ep.5, when he says "You must'a heard somebody say that before." One thing Blockhead is good at is repeating the thoughts of others, not coming up with original thoughts of his own.

Blockhead and my faith in humanity

Blockhead is an invention of pure genious and creativity. And this movie only proves your talent as a flash artist. Blockhead is an internet celebrity in my eyes.

The-Swain responds:

Until the day he starts making cameos in other people's cartoons, I don't think I'll see him as much of a celebrity. He's just my special little guy.

WOWOWOW!

Amazing. Fantastic. An inspiration to all of us animators out there. One thing though that i would SOO appreciate if you answered this question, is when Blockhead and the woman and doctor were flying in the car through the future, and they were passing skycrapers, I paused the cartoon and noticed that the buildings weren't just stretched to the side to look like they were going by fast, but they were actually drawn with brush in a very dragged way, so that if you paused on them you'd see that they didn't really look like buildings, but more of a stretched Shagal painting. How the hell did you do that?!

The-Swain responds:

Man, I don't quite remember now that you mention it. How I drew it isn't something that comes back to me, but I do recall the idea in my head at the time. See, when you look at a long-exposure photograph, it's always the lights that are prominant. Thus I didn't just draw the window lights, but instead I drew them all together as one huge blur. Since the buildings were gonna be flying by so quickly, I wanted to make sure that the lights were what stood out most.

Woah, it was awesome!

That was really great! It got a little laggy since it was so long but the story was awesome, not as funny as the shorter Blockhead episodes, but it has tons of great plot and characters! How long did you spend on it? It was great!

The-Swain responds:

Man oh man...I worked on the script all the way through December. Then I worked on Part 1 specifically all through January. I really, truly hope I can pump out TS 2 in as orderly a fashion as the previous.

it was alright

it was funny and had good animation but the only thing i didn't like was it had the same name as an old cartoon network show

The-Swain responds:

If that's the only thing you didn't like, then it looks like I'm in the clear. :D Everyone I've asked who has seen the old "Time Squad" on Cartoon Network said it was garbage. I'm hoping that one day someone can say "Hey, have you seen Time Squad?" and the other person will reply "Which one? The real one, or the crappy other one on Cartoon Network?"
