Reviews for "The Spirit of Halloween 1"

Amazing.

I love EVERYTHING about this flash. I can't find a single thing wrong with it, I even liked your voice acting in it. I thought it was very cute and made me laugh out loud when I was trying to stay quiet in my house. I think alot of people will agree when I say my favorite part was the dancing scene with Travolta. I also liked the little singing bit after that scene as well. For some reason though, it all has an "Invader Zim" vibe to it, but maybe that's just me. Again, great work and I can't wait for the second part!!!!!

I keep hearing "Invader Zim" and "VG Cats".

I don't read or watch either. I've only read a few strips of VG Cats (which I read to find out what everyone said I was copying) and I've never seen even a minute of Invader Zim. =/

Really glad you liked it though.
Second part will be out soon, so keep your eyes open. :)

WOW !

Very nice man , i cant pick a fault, the fact you got the copyrights for all the music (which worked very nicely in with the animation) shows that you take pride in your animations. I couldn't stop laughing all the way through, loved that dancing scene. The voice acting is perfect and the animation is smooth, with an original story line to boot. Keep it up !!!!

squeakytoad responds:

Thanks, man. Glad you enjoyed. :)

not bad

Not too bad, would have liked to have seen a little better sound track to go with it. Maybe more music durring the quieter scenes. But that's just me, it was good without that. Can't wait to see number 2. Good job.

Can't overlook the copying

I liked this a lot, I really did. I liked the story and the characters...and that's pretty rare in most flash cartoons.
I have to say though that the werewolf was definitely ripped off of Scott Ramsoomair's Ternaldo on VG Cats

So that kind of ruined it for me, I liked everything else...but come on. Can you even get away with that?

Original and Innovative!

It's been a while since I've seen you in the portal. But anywhy, first here's the breakdown

Graphics- 7. I hate this score because it interferes with the proceeding score, while it's still one of the most important score. Something tells me you weren't trying to have nice graphics, but rather fitting style for the flash. There was a little to many tweens in this flash, but if you're planning on realeasing a sequel or set of three before the end of Halloween, I should expect that much.

Style- 10. Much unlike "Dare" the graphics really fit the flash. They were cutesy, while not being irritatingly cute like "Less Than Three." What was the frame rate in this? It seemed pretty fluid. Alos, a scene select would be nice, because this flash is long. Just 2 or 3 scenes, just a way to skip around. It's rare to see such originality, so congrats. I liked the idea of "little monsters."

Sound- 9. Extremely good. Occasionally I heard a slight blur or you annonciating your "P's" to stressfully, but this is better than most. The voices were incredible overall becuase, I, mean, come on, it's free. I can't expect perfection. A lot of people fail to grasp that. Also, I loved the little Frankensteins voice.

Violence- 1. No violence, no gore, a score. Whu does this box even exist, anyways.

Interactivity- 1. For movies, this doesn't matter. So don't pay attention to this.

Humor- 8. Original and funny. The characters all had that aura and personality that created a connection and comedy. Many of the kokes I saw coming way to early, like the handicapped stall one. Some where humorous and unforeseen, which is, again, rare for someone who scripted, animated, and voiced the entire thing.

Overall- 9. Well, I just explained that all above, didn't I?

Not much more to explain. Congrats on the Daily and frontpage that I'm nearly positive this will get. Just a few questions to wrap up the review.

Q1) Is this an annual thing, or is will the whole thing be down before Dec. 31?

Q2) What is this? A trilogy?

Q3) What is the frame rate?

Well, that's pretty much it. This shouldn't be in the top 5 Halloween movies, but I'm willing to bet it gets Daily for each submission. Good luck!
