With a title like heavy weapons...
I was a bit disappointed. Most weapon upgrades didnt do much to balance the more difficult enemies imo. I dodged most of the time and tried several variations but found most weapons didnt have the staying power to handle the number of enemies being thrown at the player. I did enjoy the level design and enemy variety, I just wish my cool looking weapons actually dealt out death and destruction worthy of such beautiful enviroments.
Probably my biggest complaint was, because of the weapons, I couldnt clear enemies quickly enough to grab the coins before new enemies spawned. This would be fine except you need money in order to get new weapons, so if you fall behind in collection of money, you are handicapped the next level, which creates an ugly cycle.
I always look to a game to be two things: fun and challenging. It is a difficult thing to find that balance, and I think in this particular case it may be unbalanced. Frantically trying to grab money while more enemies spawn not only off screen but through portals while the turrets unleash fiery death on you sounds like challenging fun until you realize you might as well be shooting peas at most of the turrets and portals dropping out enemies.
I felt like I could finish the game but I didnt want to finish it because the gameplay wasnt fun imo. I didnt feel like all the game mechanics came together to provide a balanced experiance.
Really all the game needs is some tweaking. The presentation was excellent. Just balance the weapons so that they can actually handle the enemies and the portals/turrets/bugs/tanks...or reduce health on some enemies.
Good Luck on future flashes!
