Reviews for "Endless War 4"

A mauled, unimproved, hideous mess of a game.

Endless War 3 was an excellent flash game. One of the very best. This... to be very, very kind, sucks. The entire game feels like it was rushed through production to make a deadline. It's totally unfinished. The graphics are worse than the last game. Grammar is awful, worse than the last game. Weapons are glitchy and unresponsive. They're poorly drawn and designed. Why does an anti-tank rifle fire a flare? The much vaunted lying prone system doesn't do anything but immobilize you. The excellent campaign system in Endless War 3 was scrapped in favor for this puke-inducingly bad stage-based game. The missions now require you to kill all the enemies in a level. Worst of all, your ammo level carries over to the next stage, sometimes leaving you helplessly stranded behind a wall with no weapons as defense. The squad commands are broken and don't work. The grenade throw system which worked so well in the last game is abandoned with a one-button approach which makes the throws inaccurate. Unlike in Endless War 3, where you could get by with pretty much any gun, the guns in this game are either ridiculously powerful or ridiculously weak. Getting stuck with a weak gun basically ends your game. The missions are too arduous and the difficulty is unbalanced. All the creativity and gorgeous art design of the third game is replaced with MS Paint-grade mouse sketches. Movement is sluggish and laggy. It's hard to distinguish ambient and real terrain and you're likely to kill yourself with a rocket launcher many times by hitting a rock you thought was a ground piece. All the old weapons return, but they're never used because none of the campaigns take place in the modern day and they're only usable with the cheat. The few new weapons that are present are all just remakes of existing weapons or comically obvious plagiarizations of weapons from other series (the blade gun is a ripoff of Mega Man's metal blades). I cannot stress how horribly broken this entire game is. Like a movie which is hastily filmed on a low budget, this game is rushed, unfinished, and is held together with chewed bubble gum and wire. It's so painfully bad that it manages to be worse than the original game. This flash could have been bearable if the author had taken Endless War 3 and tacked on a few more campaigns. Unfortunately, as a standalone game, it's a train wreck. I think it was rushed into the portal because fans kept bugging Vitaly about this game. Well, great job Vitaly. You've created a dreck so mauled, unimproved, and hideous that you've failed to satisfy even the most diehard Endless War fan, to say nothing about the average casual player. Words to the wise: don't try to fix what's not broken. Instead of rushing this horrid infection into the public eye, improve on what you already have instead of trying to create another forgettable shooter. This series has taken a turn for the worse, and if it's not fixed, it will end up like every other shooter released today; it will fall into the morass and be forgotten.

some what dissapointing...

considering previous installments I was expecting more.

nise

its a cool game but it didnt get beter

Not as it was...

Dude this is not so great like 3 was now its just...OMG BAD.Sorry but its the ture to me. Its just not like 3. 3 had better sound and somehow I'm lagging when I'm playing. The weapons back in 3 right MUCH WEAKER.

no progress.

i've been a fan of your endless war games and feudalism games, but this endless war needs work.

as far as the design of the game goes, you used pretty much the same formula. i could easily mistake this for endless war 3, and i expected more considering the improvement from your earlier endless wars.

you permanently made bullets slow instead of fast like they could be in endless war 3. i don't know why you did this, or why you didn't at least leave the option for bullet travel to be instantaneous.

Q doesn't make the allies do a thing, i can't get my good for nothing allies to even act as meat shields.

the grammar is shitty. i apologize if you're not a fluent english speaker, but you could take some time to just revise those simple things and improve the production quality of your games.

the campaign structure is a little strange, i don't understand why you changed it. you have to start any particular set of maps from the beginning, rather than being able to unlock each map and go directly to it as you progress through the game (that formula worked! why did you change it??).

you added a few new guns, but they're unremarkable, and this trait of bouncing shots off of walls is too unwieldy for it to be useful.
in a related note, the map terrain is awful. features that are obstacles are hard to distinguish from features on the rest of the map, and when you have persistent blood and corpses they look sloppily drawn on to the terrain over whatever detail the map might have had.

lying down doesn't do anything except immobilize you, it probably should improve your accuracy and reduce the effect of recoil on your accuracy. i also suggest that sandbags shouldn't provide cover unless you're lying down (as in bullets would zip over your head and you could return fire over sandbags if you stood up).

i wish you would do something different with the way shooting in general works. moving has no effect on accuracy (it should, but it's your game so w.e), and of course the first shot of every gun no matter what goes straight to the center of the crosshairs (this makes a pistol or machine gun as accurate as a sniper rifle...something is wrong with that idea).
my suggestion as far as that whole system goes is that you replace the crosshairs with a circle or some other marking which designates an area rather than a point. and as you already do, the circle or pointer or what have you should expand as you continue shooting, but it shouldn't expand arbitrarily, it should actually give the player an idea as to the range of inaccuracy of the bullet (i say this because with machine guns and the like the crosshair gets bigger when you fire it, but the bullets start going fucking sideways and shit).

alright, i could go on, but the basic fact is, endless war 4 has a few new things and no real improvements in relation to endless war 3. sorry, i'm a fan of your stuff i swear, but i see no progress here in terms of your ability to design and create flash games.
