Reviews for "Fig. 8"

Awesome!

I love those kind of games. A game like this or Aether ... they should be placed in another category :D idk how it should be called but it would be great. I mean those games that really make sense.

Amazing

This "game," is incredibly noteworthy. I put game in quotations, because this is more than just a game, it is a work of art, and one that someone needs to be mature to fully appreciate. It is a GIFT to the imagination to say the least. No it does not need more vehicles, it does not need more options, it does not need more difficulties. Why? Because these things are superficial, and that is not, in my humble opinion, what this piece is about, it just isn't the point. Thanks to the creators for doing a wonderful job giving us a unique experience. The point system was cool, but unecessary, but as you said in the description, some people will be looking for that. Loved the moving screen, felt like a wandering, creative mind that I had to keep up with. Brilliant. All my opinion, of course ;)

Hey, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

good, with a few problems

During this game, I found myself asking 'why' a lot.
Why do you have to circle the checkpoints?
Why does the screen move so fast?
Why doesn't the screen move with you?
Why do the labels kill you?
Why is there so much random crap everywhere?

If you would fix these, it would be a 10 in my book

aeiowu responds:

Definitely good questions scarface

the checkpoints are circled so you have to make a meaningful choice between breaking your multiplier or saving your game. If you were going for points, then you'd never really want to circle a checkpoint when you could buff your multiplier. Of course, not saving at a checkpoint is a risky affair ;)

The screen speeds up to increase difficulty. I admit that we could have done a better job with the speed though. However we felt that speeding up the camera would increase the tension at the end and make the end of the track feel more like a boss. Kind of like increasing the stakes, ya know?

The screen is essentially the main antagonist in the game. If the screen were to move with you, you'd have no trouble manuevering through the level, at least a lot less. You know those mario levels where the screen moves at a certain speed and you have to stay on screen and if you don't it catches up with you and you die? That's the basic idea. We felt like having traditional enemies or other adversaries in the game would have been more out of the spirit of the game.

The labels kill you for the same reason the camera kills you. Without threats like that, there would be zero challenge. Though we have played with the idea of doing another version of this game where the game was a lot less hectic and more about exploration.

good concept

i really like the look and the handling of this game. all it lacks is more options

pretty awesome

My only real problem with this game is that i wanted to mess around with the bike clear of obsticles and make patterns, but the pattern runs out which is dissapointing. I would also have liked perhaps a different mode... maybe a different vehicle, just more little fun things. theres also tiny little bugs where sometimes i go over the black line and sometimes dont touch it and crash. other then those small things its an ace dodgem game, fanastic graphics, smooth clean animation, good work.

for the guy below. dont give it a low score because u suck at it and u need to CIRCLE the save point not run into it
