Meh....

Well, it certainly does 'poke' fun at the situation, ha ha ha! But seriously, it's only good the first or second time around. After about a few minutes, it gets old fast. And the puke has very little use in the early going, and with it's odd aiming, it makes it very hard to hit anything when the birds get heavy.

You could try adding a few more levels with new music and obstacles in each, as well as refining the puke aim. It could be great, it just needs some work. I might even make it has a good footnote in NG history, as someone else here has said.

Was it too soon? I don't think so. Newgrounds is always the place for silly games based on current events. This game adequately paid tribute to the 'Balloon Boy'. The playability was good. The replayability wasn't so good, because it was just more birds and nothing new. I did get adequate entertainment the first time around, though.

Things I might improve:

There is plenty of video of this event that you could capture. You might try capturing the balloon from a few angles, and make the balloon spin while it's moving.

You might try adding levels to the game. You could make it a timed game, and have it eventually run out of helium and land for each level.

You might try adding a few more powerups for variety.

Maybe, you could also add a helicopter or two.

For what it is, the game is just fine. Who knows, maybe you'll get a mention in the next NG history flash.

Lol, that game is pretty easy.

In my opinion the medal should be worth only 25 points (if not 10), it's fairly easier than any other 50-points-worth medal in NewGrounds.
