Interesting story line but many many bugs
I kept playing the game because I wanted to see how it turned out in the end. The actual turret fighting was the same thing over and over and not really the reason I kept with it. There are many bugs in it:
1 - Buying the slowing gun right below your main gun makes it virtually impossible to switch back to your main gun! The only way I could find to get back to my main gun was to click on my ground killing gun and then select my main gun again.
2 - The only guns worth buying are the autoturrets. The ones you have to manually switch over take too much time to switch and then they're ineffectual. They may as well not be in the game because your money us better spent on the main gun and autoturrets
3 - At the end with the space bar mashing I almost beat it but missed it by a tiny sliver, then the game said the game is OVER?? WHAT THE FUCK. I reloaded a save game and bought the courage upgrade thing hoping to continue playing. I made it to about level 32 or so and had about 190% wakefulness. The ships started coming in such mass that the hit detection would fail and bullets wouldn't do damage any more. At the end of these leves the ships would not get cleared off the screen and there would still be these left over zombie ghost ships floating across the screen into the dream sequence and even next level.
4 - Buying the angle upgrade for the land gun didn't seem to do much. On one leve I had a bunch of money that I didn't need so I bough like 4 or 5 angle upgrades all at once and then couldn't really tell any difference. I still couldn't shoot the powerful airships so the gun and all the money I spent on it was wasted.
5 - Having to walk back and forth to upgrade and seeing the same dream sequence over and over got old. The dream sequence should have varied more as the game went on. I know the text changed slightly but it should have changed with each level because it was monotonous to see the same thing over and over.
Basically: what the hell??? You really expect me to replay all those levels just to mash the space bar to see how it ends? NOT LIKELY. I like the idea of waking up from the dream but there's no way I'm doing all that again. You should be able to buy the courage thing and the ending level again WITHOUT playing the whole damned game.
Giving it an 8 because the story kept be playing in spite of the repetitive game play and bugs.
