Honestly, I don't know... I think it's because light sabers are so powerful and yet the inner workings of the saber is so delicate that if it were longer it would simply explode when used. I'm drawing this conclusion from the simple fact that No One has tried to make a giant light saber to blow up worlds with... at least I don't think so... good question.

woa... but u forgot the part where the guy wit the blue sword cuts the red guy's sword in half & takes the dead guy's green sword... other than that is wuz pretty tru to the movie
