Pretty fun, with flaws.

It was a pretty good game I suppose, just with a lot of flaws.
Really nice for a first game.
For one, you are going to want some better text, as the current text you have is pretty bland in just times new roman.
Perhaps download a font but not keep it as a font layer, rather make it rasterized.

Also, you are going to want for it to be capitalized and spellchecked just incase you misspell, as well as the very beginning is uncapitalized and it throws it off. As for gameplay, it gets kind of repetitive and you could make more of a challenge. Try adding enemies or laser beams here and there to throw off the main character.

Possibly make more of a plot, as you don't really know whats going on.

As for artwork, the sprite work is pretty nice.
However, make it more consistent. Don't have a drawn background with sprite characters and drawn powerups.
Remember, consistency is key. Make everything drawn or everything sprited in a game like this, otherwise it looks sort of off.

Music-wise, try to add more songs, listening to the same loop over and over and over gets kind of annoying, even though the song itself is nice. Play through more songs.

Another point, for lives, make red circles with shading and a black circle around them, or some type of token as your lives left. The girl moving around is kind of weird to be in a lives box.

Maybe make the character faster too, and possibly make something that boosts speed, and makes like a blue streak behind the character as she runs or something, a white shadow around her as an invincible powerup or something, I just think powerups would be a good addition.

Great submission for your first game.

originally, the lives in the corner were supposed to do silly things like walk off screen and grab tea, or sit down and look at their watch, but since I had to find my own sprite sheet instead of have one created specifically for this game I decided to go with what you see.

I don't normally write constructive reviews for beginners, preferring to either rave about works I love or rant about submissions that are absolutely stupid - which is silly, now that I think about it. You're probably the type of person I really should be critiquing, seeing as the best hear they're great every day and the worst don't really need to be told they suck.

Anyway, this is a promising first submission. The game is a little rough around the edges but a solid concept. I liked the race against time - the chugging of the encroaching wall growing louder as it caught up with me will probably give me nightmares. The main character is cute and has the potential to be cuter once you get your artist back. I liked the detail of her skirt flying up when she drops long distances. Nice touch. XD The controls might need a little work. Seems odd that not only can the girl power slide on her ass for seemingly infinite distances, but also that it's faster than running. I'd say either drop the slide button and make running faster or, if you're feeling bold, make it so that you have to gather acceleration by running before sliding a limited distance. And maybe in the second edition there can be some powerups and/or more obstacles beyond the endless platforms.

Pretty good overall, though. Congrats on your first submission.

The only problems I found was that she moved a bit slow.

Also, can you make the "sensor" for the girl a bit smaller? Sometimes it seems like she barely fit into the gaps. On several occasions, I started to fall down a hole, but when I turned too quickly to head toward the next hole, she wasn't far enough down, and it bounced her right back onto the platform I was trying to leave.

the problem has to do with flipping the bounding box when the character is rotated, I couldn't think of a practical way to solve this without alot of core re-writing after tha game was pretty much done. I do apologise to those of you who get caught by the crushers because of this very small and stupid glitch. Actually, I just thought of a solution. ~edit~
