Reviews for "Wrath of Anubis 2"

Nice!

Good game.

Awesome

I created an account just to give my feedback for what a challenging fun game this is. To be fair, it IS a tad bit hard. This is coming from a person who beat battletoads. I don't think it's necessary to have easy/normal/hard modes. What's the point of playing a trivial game without any difficulty?

The whole point in games is to be challenged and exercise skill, dexterity and reflexes. The author creatively made a wonderful game like this available. I find many games to be too easy, and unsatisfying because players just go through the motions. This is what's missing in games nowadays.

I liked how the character enters different rooms for each quest. It would be nice to have some variety in what he can do with the gems, and some boss fights would be nice. It may also be nice to have a weapon. One-shot game play is fine (eg., can't get hit - I think it's absurd to have health points)

Keep the good work up!

Hurrrrrrrrrp

Just as fun as the first one. I'm an avid platformer fan, and this satisfies me... It's tough, there's retarded amounts to collect, the music is tasty, and it's relatively fast paced. Beautiful.

@DarkestLink:
Why are you down rating a game because you suck at it? I mean, I'm not a big Beatles fan, but I recognize how talented they are.

Challenging

This game is very, very challenging. I grew up on NES classics, and even beat Silver Surfer, but this goes over that.

I will say the controls are okay, the music is good, and there is fluent character movements. No delay, either. Although sometimes it rejects me the use of jumping right after I land, besides that, the controls were fine.

This game is challenging, but there are points in the game where it is beyond challenging. Where you need to keep going and going and going until you get it. I like challenging games, but not action/adventure platformers that is on the verge of being a memory game, or a game with split second timing in all your movements.

For example, level 7 (or 8) there's this chest. I still don't know how to get it, but I figure you need to jump on the disappearing platform to the right, slide down the wall, and try a very tricky timing jump to make it to the other side of the wall. Getting to that chest is not challenging nor fun, it's tedious and frustrating.

Other than that, it's a pretty solid game. 8/10.

Canadian-Jeff responds:

if we're thinking of the same level, you need to bounce off the bats to get up to the chest.

Bonus points if you do it your way though.

Small things to fix

I find it hilarious that the score of Wrath of Anubis is 4.17 while the score of Wrath of Anubis 2 is 3.57 when they are practically the same game! It just proves that people are crybabies when the game they are playing is too hard. Anyways, onto the review...

Despite your effort to solve all problems with the controls, I still have one: the fact that duck and action are the same button. I would customize the controls to get rid of this problem but they're the same button no matter what I do! When I'm walking and I want to open a chest, its fine, however, when I'm trying to flip a switch high up on a wall, it causes problems because it interferes with my ability to continue sliding on the wall.

Another thing that bothers me is the animation of those things that shoots arrows. I'm having a hard time distinguishing whether they're about to shoot arrows or not. It seems that it takes 3 or 4 different forms that are only a couple of pixels apart making it hard to know when the arrow will be fired. To keep it simple, it should only have 2 forms: "About to fire" and "Not about to fire".

My third problem is the ghosts. My problem isn't that they make the game too hard, its the fact that they just randomly appear. It makes coming up with a strategy for the stage completely useless because you can be thrown off the course of the strategy at any time if a blue ghost appears where it shouldn't. It makes beating the game require that the player gets lucky and luck is something that really doesn't belong in a platformer.

A couple more things to add:
- Levels 14 - 24 should tell you how many idols you've found when you stand near the door
- I noticed that the Quit Complaining medal doesn't work. I tried changing all the controls and nothing happened. I heard that you had to right click the game and click the website at the top but that doesn't work for me either. A better medal explination would be nice.

Other than that, you have a great game and I would be happy to know that there was another sequel coming! 8/10 for all your hard work!
