Reviews for "Benny's Adventure"

Nice little game

This was a nice simple little game you made here,it wasn't long or very complex but it had a sense of funny randomness of having to control an ox throughout an icy level to turn on the heater, the controls took a little time to get used to with the slight delay and trying to break the 30 second mark is a true challenge but overall for a simple game this was pretty nice so keep up the good work. :)

J-qb responds:

thanks

It looked a lot better than it was.

The controls are terrible.

Poor controls and unrealistic medal times

This game falls into the trap that many producers make, trying to make a game hard and not enjoyable. There are countless flash games where the difficulty factor is high and enjoyment level low. Benny's Adventure is one of these games.

Poor controls and hit detection also hurt this flash. The time requirement on the medals should be raised by 10 to 15 seconds each. If you miss one jump you have no chance of turning on the heat in thirty seconds.

Please try harder in the future ,and use more play testers. I will volunteer to beta test if I am needed.

The graphics were nice. Would of been nice to hear more than one song.

J-qb responds:

I think this is more an issue of you not liking difficult games than me not trying hard. The fact that the controls are difficult to master is something that I put in on purpose; The same goes for the hit detection. The fact that you dont like them doesnt make them poor. To get the <30 sec medal you are allowed to miss one jump; and frankly; its not supposed to be easy.
I used plenty playtesters; I appreciate the offer, but your undoubtedly amazing testing skills will not be needed..

Thanks for the comment on the graphics.

Crappy

Easy, too precise (the best time possible is like, 26-29 seconds and you're asking for 30 for the best medal, which is ridiculous, but possible), crappy collision, didn't allow for WASD (this is EXTREMELY important - some keyboards cannot press two arrows at the same time)... 1 audio file, decent graphics, and only 1 level.

Better luck next time. I know you can make a game worth playing. This sucked.

Medals:
To get the best completion time you have to beat the "game" perfectly. Start by running right into the ice, then as you slide back hold left and jump right as you reach dry ground. You should land on the first raised area, then jump and land on the third, shorter raised area, and continue left until you slam through the door.

After getting the key hold right, time your jumps to land on the short raise area, then the farthest right raise area, then the first ice platform, second ice platform, then switch area.

From the switch, hold left and go back across the two ice platforms, then fall and run into the farthest right raised area. Hold right and continue across the ice at full speed. Push the bottom box until it drops. Run to the question mark, then turn around and jump to the second level.

Push the middle box off to the left, then fall on top of it. Press left then up really quickly so you have a tiny bit of momentum to reach the platform up to the left. Then run and jump to the right, push the third and final box down, fall on top of it, get enough momentum and jump the gap.

Secret medal: wait for the clock to reach 5 minutes.

J-qb responds:

<30 secs for the medal is not ridiculous; its very well doable. you just have to get used to the controls for a bit.
Thanks for mentioning the WASD thing, I wasnt aware of that, so I didnt deem it necessary to implement it.

Nice Game Cubles

Its pretty good. The controls are annoying, but it just takes some getting used to. It adds to the difficulty. I also like the race against the clock feel, but it is just so hard sometimes, I want to punch my screen :P I imagine this was your predicted response, though.
Also, When I charged through the door with the key, the door closed behind he D:
I guess the warden didn't want me wandering around. What an ass! Now we will all freeze!

J-qb responds:

thanks, that door slamming shut is a new one; you must be very special....
