Reviews for "Spitfire 1940"

Good game but....

It's a fun game, but I keep getting the "allow more memory" thing. For some reason I can't click on it.

Great Game!

I really loved this game. For me it wasn't too hard, but a bit too simple. never used firemen, only used builder from time to time and hurricane was a waste of ressources. More types of planes, that have strength and weaknesses would be fun. And it would be great if the people could level up, so the pilots got better the more battles they survive etc. research would be fun, too. You see: much to do for part 2. ;)

One hint for the desperate: Leave one single plane in each location (the single on shot down some times 4 enemies) and never build bigger forces than 8 spits at a location. The more planes you got, the more can be hit by the widespread fire of the enemy.

Well,its good game...

Kinda good, but its just too hard.My planes always get shot,I dont have enougth recruits and enemies are overpowered.Just some changes to make it easier could make me give 10/10 and 5/5.I hate games that are really hard.

i loved it.

iam not one to love strategy games because well .. i dont like to think too much but i beat the game and i loved it to bits.

its so simple yet satisfying even when you have to risk one locations defense so that the next wave you will be prepared.

the fireman and builders are worth your time people!

i didnt read any tutorials or anything but i figured out that generally the planes dont have too much a difference aside from spitfires being better at attacking other spitfire type planes.

but i enjoyed it non the less the atmosphere the game gives is really genuine i felt like i had no choice but to not send any planes to defend a city in certain situations but still felt bad for doing so.

i have no idea why people say this is a bad game as its clearly a long term strategy game.

Long Game, Great Atmosphere

[Allow me to defend this game....] This a great game, but it does require a long-term strategy. It's not something you can win on brute force - something which should be apparent from the large number of enemy planes you're supposed to shoot down, and the lack of detail about the fighting stats of the planes. Clearly, this is not a shooting game, but an extremely satisfying strategy.
I felt compelled to play with it for a while with the nice images (the silhouettes for the different areas were particularly evocative) and simple interface - a little reading of the tutorial goes a long way and the game is ultimately not that complicated. (Also, Spitfires are cool!)
I say all this as most people's given issues with it seem to revolve around how easily the planes are shot down. Without wishing to give too much away, with one trial run and reading the intelligence report, it can be deduced that generally it is unwise to send any planes out at all until you can be sure you outnumber the enemy.
Having played with the game for an hour or so, I have only achieved a single victory (and saved the Midlands, hurrah!) but it was REALLY SATISFYING - probably because I had to plan for it for so long. Sad as that is, in short, this game is rewarding! I await to see whether massive successful attack/defences are possible later in the game.
One possible flaw I can see is that I'm not sure what use it is building hurricanes, especially if you have accumulated a lot of scrap metal. An added layer of difficultly might be established perhaps if for example, each plane was given to be more effective against one of the German ones.
Nonetheless, I'm enjoying myself greatly. :)
