Reviews for "The Last Stand Union City"

A man's review

Deciding that I should go back to reviewing games and such. I decided to start with a series I really like. Last Stand.

Gameplay: Gameplay like most of the games are top notch and very well done. However, there is a flaw like almost all of your games. While the gameplay on paper and so far is very well done. Some of the things crippled the games from reaching all of its ability. While I had no issue with the game. I had an issue with the spawning. So many zombies would pop out of the ceilings and thus caused the game to become 'crippled' and slow. I have a hardcore gaming rig and one of the best internet provider you can get here. I died with a M16 and a buddy being lost because of the sudden spam fest of zombies. Reduce the numbers and make them harder tweak it some. Another problem is the sudden 'zerg rush' in which a crowd of zombie would be suddenly on the other side of the door and suddenly you're rush to death. Not only this is annoying, but this create a problem for a specific areas. Quests while seemly simple are buggy, for example. A dude asked you to get some parts and in return you get a pipe. But doesn't say WHAT or WHERE. So you're stumped and while I could look at the walkthrough, it would kill the point of the game to acutally do it. Another issue is the lack of map or a way point, while I understand the realism sense, it makes the game utterly and sadly dreadful. As I completely gave up finding a bolt-action rifle. I was really pleased with items given as I was like a little girl giggling when I got the biological suit and found a gas mask. In general the game play, searching, lock picking, etc. Were awesome, but hit detections, and a few 'wtf' moments kept the game from getting a full set of stars. As for buddies, they were really useful. However, the issue was that the game become suddenly VERY hard without the buddy. Your buddy is the meat shield, they never die unless you die and they were down. And have unlimited ammo, so if you did you can simply beat the snot out of zombies while they shoot. The issue with the buddy system is that you relied TOO MUCH on the buddy, if they die, chance of you being able to handle another mob is 0%.

Sound: Sound were awesome, while they were mostly ripped from the older games, none the less the sound were nice to hair.

Art/Visual: Great, 'nuff said. Last Stand style.

Controls: Control were a little off sometimes, for example. In the beta and such, you just had to be near the stairs to move down. Which wasn't a big deal, but this time you had to move near the end of it and then be in a specific spot to go down. This was alright, but at the same time annoying. Sometimes the sudden rush of zombies from the ceiling and from the street made the game's control REALLY wonky. Like your character had the ability to flex his arms at 360% angle and fired off shows like he was a blind man trying to shoot a bird.

Overall: Should you play this game? Why are you still reading this?! Yes! This game while having some flaws is a great game. One of the best game ever released in the history of Newgrounds. I give this game a fair state of 4/5 and 8/10.
