Reviews for "Utopian Mining"

yeah, nice game but the music makes me... *yaaaawn*

Took me 4 days to beat the game. Pretty good, got boring at times, but overall it was ok, deserves 4 stars..

Maybe you could make it better in the 2nd version if you're going to make one.. more valuable rock to find, more jobs, more upgrades, the graphics are cool so that does not have to change, the only thing I'd change drastically is the music, as it gets very tedius and boring, maybe you could add differant tunes? Just a few ideas hey. I liked this game, keep up the good work :)

P.s maybe add even more tiers to the level so it take longer to get to the bottom, I ripped up about a half the landscape after I'd completely upgraded to my shiny diamond robot.. and another thing.. You could add is instead of one COre you could have several.. such as for each tier you go down e.g

!st tier - COre 1
2nd tier - COre 2
etc etc, and make them more valuable and harder to get.

Maybe throw in a boss at the end? (Who doesn't love to face a boss to complete the game hey?)

Oh and add more medal gets! I like collecting medals :D

Peace.

i beat this game while i was at school over about a week is how long it took me to beat it

Having played Motherload, I feel that the one thing this game has over Motherload is the fact that this game has medals, because I love them, why else? However, they are too easy to get; I earned all of them (the standard 500 points worth of medals) in less than an hour. You can (and probably will) get all of them by the time you beat the whole game! What were you thinking when you gave an achievement just for starting up the game? Oh well...

It would be a good idea to make the achievements a bit more challenging to get, add some hazards, more quests, more upgrades, and some other things. You could consider that if you ever decide on making a sequel.

Sure, this game has quests, but they are only "fetch quests." The people want you to gather certain quantities of ores/items, or a certain amount of cash. Almost no variation there. That can also be improved in the sequel.

All complaints out of the way, I still enjoyed this game. This game could be better, though.

By the way, I love the graphics of this game; 8-bit is awesome!

Too simple and easy! I liked it, but it took so little effort as to feel unsatisfying. I've played Motherload, so this feels ridiculously easy by comparison.

For improvement, try adding more elements to make it more complicated. Pretty early in the game I had no trouble getting plenty of upgrades. Maybe try making the last upgrade parts each require a special item or artifact to be found, and try throwing in more rocks that take higher level drills to break through. And the game felt like it needed more danger, the cooling parts were easy to buy, so the heat barely even put pressure on the game play. Maybe giant worms or lava flows that drift around, they don't have to be fast or powerful or anything, but just something that would throw in some complexity to the otherwise repetitive routine of drilling out a new horizontal tunnel, picking up ores along the way, rinse and repeat.

One thing that made Motherload so great was the unknown depths and how dangerous and mysterious they seemed. That game did a great job making you feel kind of scared to go deeper where the more valuable ores were, and I think that's something a good mining game should have.

Still, I got some enjoyment out of it and I think there is great opportunity for expansion here. It was worth playing, and I think it's worth improving.
