Reviews for "Boom Town"

Good game.

day 99 with everything maxed and no desire to get the achievements, most of which i already have. a nice 4.5 star game, my only problem with it is the wild fluctuation in gold value. in one day it went from a value of 2k + to being under 600. maybe a gradual decline instead of just randomly tanking, then taking forever to get back up to any form of decent numbers would be nice. a stark agreement to all the other suggestions, but i'll add this one too. Instead of just trees, through in some rock formations that have a higher ore content when destroyed, but in turn are either in difficult places or require steadily strengthening bombs to destroy. also, an increase in total load and fuel would be great, considering on my last 15 nuke run on the same spot i wound up leaving behind about 3/4 of the ore i mined. solid game though. good job.

this game has me hooked!!!theres some dumb stuff in there but it's very fun and im FUCKING HOOKED!!!

Very nice, solid game. Here's an idea, maybe make houses or saloons where you can keep population instead of having tent upon tent of them just outside. I feel like I'm killing people when there's a god vein right next to a settlement. Otherwise, as Lakawak stated, perhaps some sort of commerce would be a great addition to the next game if there will be one. Looking forward to it!

I think people are being a bit too harsh in some of their criticisms. Losing gold in the trees is part of the STRATEGY of the game! Don't set off bombs near forests unless you bomb some of the trees first. Plain and simple. Same with mining at the end of a map if you haven't bought the adjacent plot. Gold WON'T fly off the map to a spot that you can't possibly get to. (In other words, if you think ahead, you can always get all the gold by buying all 4 plots first.) If you bomb near the edge of the outermost plots, the gold bounces back into your land, just like if you bomb close to the top or bottom of the map.

As for big bombs not being worth it, well, I have a feeling that commenter just hadn't played it long enough. With the right spot, you get MUCH bigger gold with the bigger bombs and a bigger profit per day. You simply are not getting 35+ ton of gold in one day with $250 bombs. But I routinely get that with 15 nukes.

The only drawback of the game was how slow the detonations are. I felt like half the game play was watching my bombs detonate which got pretty boring after awhile. But other than that, this was a solid game that I spent way more time that I expected (or should have) playing. I am sure that there could be some additions in Boom Town 2 that could make it even better, but for the first game of the series, it was good.

Maybe add a river that helps a town grow, but also requires you to purchase/build a bridge (or multiple bridges so you don't have to waste gas getting to the one bridge every time) to reach gold that flies on the other side. Bridges can also help the town grow through commerce, perhaps linking two towns together. Or maybe increasing the range of a water tower.

Also, perhaps random (hopefully fairly rare or it would get annoying) bad events like lawlessness that can be minimized once you can build a sheriff's office. or fires that could be controlled by having a fire brigade (better if near the river).

And perhaps an incentive to NOT just clear cut every tree on the map. Better growth rate near trees, for example as there would likely be more food available. Or better popularity as residents will be happier with scenery.

I'm sure there are plenty of other ideas, but those are just what I could come up with off the top of my head.
