Reviews for "Boom Town"

Rather addictive, the only major fault I could find is the fact one is not able to retrieve ores that end up in patches of forest. Either add a tool to remove trees or don't have the ores go into these patches.
The town feature could be expanded upon as it doesn't really matter if you bother with it or not.
The same goes for the changing exchange rate of gold, this should change more drastically because I ended up exchanging every single time.(Maybe add a hardcore mode?)
Being able to buy different hauling trucks would add some depth as well as having more upgrades for the truck itself. I really missed a fuel tank-upgrade even though the capacity increased every time you upgraded your engine.

It was simple but fun, I did like this game quite a bit

The game is fun and interesting at the beginning but when you obtain all th upgrades.....what's next? I mean, it's very easy get a lot of gold when you get the upgrades and if you only sell enough gold to buy explosives until the boom of gold you upgrade your mine. It's only an opinion.

After 15 minutes of playing, I was ready to rate 5 stars. Another 15 minutes, and it had dropped to 4.5, and it has continued to drop as I have played, until I've quit 60 days in out of boredom.

The problem is balance or, rather, the lack of balance. I had maxed out my upgrades by day 25ish, and after that it's just grinding to complete the game. It's pretty enough, and it's engaging enough, but it needs a lot of work to make the progress consistently satisfying from start to finish.

The town building seems too much of an afterthought, as well. It should have more of an impact on the daily mining, for my tastes. Linking your upgrade path with certain town buildings (smithy, anyone?) and your refining level with your available workforce, for example, would create a powerful incentive to balance your upgrades with townbuilding.

It's a promising start to an engaging concept, and I'm sure with tweaking it can be enthralling.

Waaaay too long. It's actually a nice game, and the artwork is lovely, but once you've maxxed everything out it's just grinding. Also, the furthest plot from your drop off point may as well be on the moon as far as mining it is concerned.
