Reviews for "Demons vs Fairyland"

awsome game really awsome

Realm of the mad god??

First of all, great feature with the implemented AG save system, so you don't lose any data (though the NG password would be even better IMO). The game really reminds of Kingdom Rush in the way that it uses the same type of save interface, is a Tower Defense game, and works pretty much the same way in control and interface. Contentwise, however, it's completely different. The enemies, the maps, the towers, the graphics, the music... is all different. I loved Kingdom Rush, so any game like that is a guaranteed hit. This will be loads of fun! One thing that would improve the gameplay experience greatly is medals integrated with the NG API, it would be much more rewarding with some of those. Keep up the great work!

I must say I have spent hours on this game, and now, after I've finally manged to get 3 diamond stars on all the levels, and also got all the achievements, I can finally get to reviewing.
First of all, the resemblences to Ironhide's "Kingdom rush" are so many and obvious, that not comparing the two games would be just silly, so I am going to compare them. First, and least important of all, you guys could have come up with your own map theme, just copying the one from KR is kind of a faux pas IMO. Apart from that, the content is very well made, maybe not as detailed and unique as what we see in KR but hey, this game is not about content at all. When it comes to gameplay and game design, well, it is excellet yes, but the thing is it could have been even better, and this really shows once you start playing for the diamond stars. At this point the skeletons become useless, and so the game becomes far less diverse as the player is down to only 2 types of buildings. At the very last few levels I ended up using only 2 types of final tier buildings with no special abilities at all, which was kind of boring.
Ok, that was the 'fail' part. Now for the 'win' part. And lets face it, this game is deffinetly a winner. First of all let me say that all the people saying this is a KR rip-off are utterly wrong. Yes the game draws from most of the ideas that came with Ironhide's game, but instead of just cpoying them, the guys at Storm Aligator did a wonderfull job of extending some, and attacking others from a completely different angle. I love the fact that the player is able to (hypothetically) build his towers anywhere on the map, i also love the "supplement" towers, and the fact that SA didnt just go for carbon copies of the towers in KR, but instead balanced out their own system. Difficulty is another strong part of the game, the diamond challenges IMO are extremely difficult, on like level 20 some of them seem utterly impossible, and yet, it all can be done. One more thing though, personally after completing all the missions for the bronze stars I went straight to diamond, and I do think that these 2 difficulty levels would have been enough. However, having the difficulty levels in between is by no means a fault.
All this said, this game is BIG, deffinetly equal in playability and a worthy successor to "Kingdom rush", and the fact that it was made by just 2 (!) guys make it a brilliant game. I would not be supprised at all to see Ironhide draw from some of innovations in DvF this time, if they ever make a sequel to thier game. The half star that's missing is actually because, if designed just a tiny little bit better, this game could have actually been better than KR.

I REALLY like this game. I think it's a really well put together Tower Defense title. I have a couple suggestions. One would be to add the ability to choose which enemies a tower will target (First, Last, Strongest, Weakest). Also, it might be a bit OP, but upgrading to have a second, weaker Demon child. A big one for me, is the star rating. I realize it demotes you as soon as your first non-demon child gets captured, even if for only a second. You could allow a player to regain the third star if only a single non-demon child has been captured and returned, and then never captured again. You could set the game so that if that first non-demon child gets captured for less than say 5 seconds, when that child returns back to base, you'd regain the star you lost. If it were to happen again, the star would be lost for that attempt.
Keep up the good work!
