Reviews for "Battle Cry"

Ah, BerzerkStudio.......
I have yet to play a horrible game from you.

@MentalMaestro

If you looked closely at any undead unit you would see that they have 3 def (hitpoints).
If you used any form of AOE, (Armeggedon's Staff [70s base cast] or Nex's Staff [Base Cast 35S] you would kill every single undead unit And the Caster And any unarmored unit.

There is a lot of strategy in this game - in fact more so than most card games and their ilk. The game does not run on "luck", but preparation and timing.

I agree that I would like to see what the enemy is using, I would press this further by requesting some form of Wiki or Forum so that new players don't start bleating about how the game is stuip, or that Behemoths (Those Giant Metal Chaps) are unbeatable.

Although I'd be quite surprised if that didn't lead to the cookie cutter armies. Never the less there is a counter for EVERYTHING. And this game does as remarkable job of balancing everything out.

The trick is just sit for a minute and think: "Why did I just get pasted?"

Failure to do that will probably result in rage quitting.

It is important to note that is not a "Pay to Win" Game. To be honest you can get 10k gold in about ten minutes when you start winning. I have found that I am inundated with useless junk, but then: everything has a use.

Lastly, @MentalMaestro,

The Lizard men have regular Bows, but they have a +4 poison racial and weakness to cold. They have 4 hitpoints and If they are in armor they have about 20. The armored ones usually buff the entire army's damage. Don't use Steam Giants, they'll get minced. What ever your doing isn't working. So tweak it.

Ok, this is an awesome game for the most part. The ability to create and customize your own units is brilliantly implemented, the depth of the stats and army arrangements make for a wide variety of strategies, and the packs give it a TCG-feel. However, there are a few things that kill the buzz.

1) The inability to see what equipment your opponents are using removes most of the "strategy" aspect from the campaign. For example: when I first encountered the Lizards in Chapter 2, my armies were systematically butchered by the lizard archers. Since I had (still have) no idea what bows they were using, I had no way to counter it.

2) The PvP. There is NO strategy involved there. It's not possible, simply because it's so random. For the same reason, my first point above is a moot point for PvP, because you're unlikely to ever face the same army twice. Your best shot at winning is to throw together the most powerful arrangement you can think of and pray for the best.

3) That infinite undead exploit... It's brutal. You can't beat it. One of my armies has a unit wielding a Saint Blade and riding a Mech Beast, so it heals for 4 points on every kill. I faced an army using the infinite undead thing, and my unit mentioned above, after all my other units had been killed, was still hacking away at a wall of skeletons. I left them to fight it out for 10 minutes before I hit the "Concede" button for lack of progress, and by that time, every slot on the enemy's side of the field had filled with undead. Until this is fixed, PvP is a lost cause..

Sorry about the lengthy review, but there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL for this game!

I liked a lot the customization of the units, both visual and tactical, but I had a very hard time to understand weakness and resistance of a lot of units, since the custom level is so high that it's not clare what unit do what! Maybe you should implement a system that automatically marks every new creation in a category (swordsman, mage...).
The biggest issue is that the army management system is too caotic and unconfortable, I find a bit frustrating that for changing an equipment you should recreate the unit from 0 and reinsert it, every single man, in the ranks. The game really needs a button to move an entire line or group forward or backward.

I absolutely love this game, the pack system combines with individual unit customization is just brilliant, especially to an OCD RPGer like me.
If you're having so much trouble with the undead problem why not throw in a creature that specifically specializes in killing undead. I know it would be a situational creature but pretty much all battles are situational on here.
Other than that once again great game and I can't wait for more from you guys. 5/5
