Reviews for "The Valley Rule"

Good Stuff guys, well done for a 72hour projects/jam.
Love the music and the atmosphere, and great little puzzler, simple and also tad frustrating with some of the wall jump situations. feels like the little sister of meat boy.

The only bug I sort of had at the beginning was when I pushed the blocks. I think sometimes when I fall into it or spam jump, I sometimes get stuck in them, not sure if others came across this, but just letting you know.

keep up the good work guys.

This game is so straightforward. I love it. The small-pixel art style gave the game a very soft tone which is accentuated by the serene music. The controls were basic and very intuitive. The only issue is that it feels obvious the game was cut short a bit what with the last two triangles being easily attained and there only being two power-ups at the beginning. The fact there were two power-ups didn't bother me, only that it seems they were put in too early in the game making the rest feel a bit lacking. Otherwise, this was great. Five stars.

I must say that this was a beautiful game! My experience while playing it was just amazing! I think I loved the character and landscape designs the most! The music was also very pretty, too! In my opinion I thought the noise of the water was very serene, I think that it added that needed touch. Now. Seeing how this is a review this might seem a bit off topic but I'll get back to talking about the game in just a second. Anyway, near the beginning of the game I decided to turn up the volume. I instantly heard a "click clack" whenever my character jumped or moved. I paused for a second, just looking at my avatar, and then said, "is she a horse?" It makes sense, seeing how she has ear-like points on her head and, if you look closely, has a horse type body. So, I just wanted to ask, is she a horse? I don't know if you already covered what animal (I know, not too important) she was but I'm going to ask anyway, just in case. OK, getting back to the topic. So I hope you guys are planning to make a continuation of The Valley Rule. (If you guys haven't already.) Maybe it can be an adventure in which she's outside? Anyway, it was a very beautiful and well-created game for being made in only 72 hours!
I don't know about you but I seem to really enjoy pixel games! Their visual simplicity helps me to focus on the plot and my goal. It's also easier to not get distracted because I'm not busy looking at the insignificant surroundings. Don't get me wrong, I still love detailed games, but a lot of pixel games tend to have very good plots , probably because they can be very easy to create if you know the art technique. In the end Everyone should definitely give this game a try! It didn't get its' four star rating for nothing!
I hope my review helped you guys out! Thank you for reading it! I usually don't work very hard on my reviews but I guess I wanted this one to be "professional". Wow, being "professional" takes a Long time! Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this game as much as I did! Have a nice day!

Raiyumi responds:

Thanks for the review! She's a cat-girl, but I think you're the first person to think she's a horse, haha. :)

The atmosphere in the game is top notch. It shows that you don't need a lot of game mechanics to have a great experience. This type of approach reminds me of games like Journey and Ico in terms of art.
My only nitpick is that the ending was a little lacking. I would have liked to have seen something maybe beautiful or mysterious.

Raiyumi responds:

Thanks! I really hated that we had to cut the game short without a proper ending too. :/

Excellent work!
