Reviews for "Perdition"

Great game. The controls were solid. The atmosphere reminded me of Super Metroid with hints of flash games like Endeavor. The style of narrative you chose isn't as unique as it once was; where a bodiless voice taunts you while you increasingly wonder who to trust. I thought it was interesting there were two voices and neither one of them seemed pleasant, so I chose not to take advice from either of them. I did take the halo once or twice because I really didn't know what it was but it helped me not die. I ultimately stopped when I realized it was like taking aid from one of the gods. I enjoyed the story and the ending I achieved.

I don't really have any suggestions. Great job.

At first glance, this 2D platformer feels like a horror game as you traverse desolate landscapes enveloped by a haunting atmosphere. As you delve deeper into the writing on the walls however, more subtle messages can be found turning this would-be horror game into a commentary on what it means to have free will. You make decisions while two seemingly powerful entities try to influence you, never knowing who to trust or obey. Given with the title, several biblical references to sin and forbidden knowledge are used as well as allegories to God and the Devil themselves.

Searching for answers, you witness a surreal mechanical wasteland inhabited solely by enfeebled androids while metallic towers litter the background. The underground is a lot less pleasant, teeming with red wires and change of music guaranteed to make you uncomfortable. With all of this in mind, I believe the purpose of Perdition is not to scare the player. Rather, it uses these uncomfortable spaces as a necessary evil to complete the atmosphere and enhance the storytelling experience.

Although not a very uplifting game, Perdition is a notable attempt to discuss very complex ideas in a uniquely styled environment. You will constantly question your actions, or decide not to, uncovering considerable depth within the four different endings brought about as consequence. To truly get the most out of Perdition, you must defy your programming as a gamer or be lost forever to the inevitable.

Thank you for the game!

Quite good, although I have to wonder if I had to avoid killing anyone or just non threats to obtain the true end.
The graphics definitely could be better, not that the graphics are bad, but there is a lot of room for improvement.
It would be nice to be able to change the controls.
The story is interesting, but confusing at first. It takes a while to realize Gomadi is a complete dick who won't really reward you in the long run if you obey all his commands, just use you and then enslave you once you have served your purpose. Tanas is no saint either, but you can befriend him. Doing what ether of them want is a bad idea, which is what made the story confusing at first: there was no "good" side to be had, no positive guidance, as I got deeper into the game it became clear that both entities that were trying to control my actions are evil, and that obeying either would make my life easier, but in the end would result in my own destruction. In any case the story gets full points for creativity cuz it made me think, most games are too straightforward.

Gameplay: Fairly good, it thoroughly got the point across that Gomadi is a sadistic fuck that needs to die "Oh, you want help? Suicide first! BTW the platforms move when they shouldn't so I can watch you die even more when your timing isn't perfect! Oh, and before I forget; kill some of your brethren for me so I can judge you as guilty later in the game. The enemies are also totally under my control and will use you for target practice if you don't suicide in order t get a halo." He's probably the one who put all of those spikes everywhere as well, just so he could watch me die on them.

Its and incredible game. The enviorement and sountracks are awesome. I feel that i am in the game, and thats very catching. I really like the game, but obviosly there are always little details to improve, like gameplay, and some movement graphics, like the character jumping, ect...
Really like the game!

good game, and quite challenging as well.
the graphics are OK, and the gameplay is good, with nice psysics (jumping, landing, moving objects etc etc), and the whole game is good, but the story is....EPIC.
i just love all the metaphors, between the ''good'' robotic god, (gomadi, who if you anagram his letters it means iamgod, pretty smart!) and the ''evil'' one (while tanas stands for the devil if you anagram his name) and you try to choose a side, and to decide the fate of robot-kind.
pretty cool!

tho, my only complaint was that in some parts, it was very hard to get in some areas, since it needed a great timing on the jumps, and sometimes, tough spots had many enemies, so if i managed to jump from a cliff and to avoid all the thorns, i would eventually either die from a spider or from a sentinel.
i dont say that a game shouldn't be challenging, but you should make some tough spots easier to beat.

(oh, and sometimes, when i jumped down, there were some blind corners, (in the bottom) which meant i would jump from a high spot, and i would either end up in a hole and die, or i woudl fall right into a spider which would decapitate me. there should not be blind corners, in my opinion.
or they should be viewable somehow.)

also some more checkpoints could be cool. maybe.

the game is good, and it has a great storyline, i believe that a sequel of this would be a smashing hit, and you have many skills, so keep up the good work!
do more!
