Reviews for "Perdition"

great fun the dialog kept it interesting and not boring to go though the length is very good the challenge is good the graphics are amazing although i wish it had more variety in the enemies and weapons and puzzles 5\5

Best Post-Apoc game I've played in ages!

A very good game with a lot of great aesthetic choices. Thought the analogy a bit hamfisted, but it did at least offer more than simply an all black and all white moral choice mechanic.

Really got me into the story, it was worth the time it took to get all four endings. Kudos!

Warning spoilers and some rambling:
This is without question my favorite flash game now. Let's talk about why shall we?

Gameplay: Let's get the worst out of the way, it's pretty ok. Most of the time you'll be making strategic jumps with some challenge and solving puzzles with things like moving large objects to get to a trigger, things like that, at times you'll get items and weapons to make the levels easier, and.. yeah that's about it, the gameplay seems to only convey the story and choices to the player. The game is a bit buggy with things like enemies, and the gameplay gets really tedious when trying to find all the endings

Graphics, aesthetics and artwork: Ok now to the good stuff, the game is made in stencyl and has 'retro' graphics. Despite this the author is able to make a gorgeous looking depraved post apocalyptic world that I don't think he/she wouldn't be able to make in say 3d graphics. He/she is able makes grotesque images. I especially liked the art at the second visit to the abyss. So yeah I really liked the art in this game.

Sound design: Pretty awesome, LoPinto did a great job, it builds the atmosphere even further and is pretty detailed, with things like Eve's legs constantly squeaking in a very robotic way whenever she moves. So again it's pretty great.

Story and atmosphere: Best part, something that most flash games don't achieve and usually hang in the back seat unfortunately, the author created a complicated awesome story that is able to draw the player in, the player is also drawn in with the atmosphere. The story is freaking amazing despite how short it is and very few characters their are, it brings up a few questions and has a lot of symbolism, the characters aren't stereotypes, neither big overlord is the terrible bad guy, both are somewhat understandable in their actions. I really enjoyed Godami and Tanas, they're both awesome characters and hey they're both AI's that don't rip off glados finally! :D Tanas is a god-like being who hides underground, he offers androids freedom and sentience but his ego overrides his empathy and it comes at a price that androids remember and worship him, his biggest fear is being forgotten and sent to the 'void'. Tanas is also an anagram for satan, he probably represents Satan from the garden of eden where he lures androids into getting information and sentience giving them both a curse and a gift. Tanas might also represent an actual dying god when you spare him, how he goes to the 'void' and is forgotten by society, which tortures for an eternity. Godami is a cynical god who sees the sentience of lower beings a blight upon the world, who can blame him, androids basically plunged it into a new dark age. He does bring up one good question though, is sentience really a curse? Do we deserve to be cattle because of the terrible actions we cause? Ok finally to the true ending, glad it's not called the 'good' ending, I love ambiguity of it. It leaves with the player thinking wether or not he/she made a teacher, a new warlord, or a new god upon her blind brothers?
