For a LD competition, this game is good.
For an actual game, it needs some much needed polish.

Good premise and mechanics but poor delivery.
Two things need to be added immediately to make this a decent game: a mute button and progress counters. To make it good, have dead enemies disappear MUCH quicker.
I was about to give up on this game as it seemed endless until I finally maxed out on leaves. There needs to be an upgrade meter or counter.
The game is also unbalanced to me. When I was paying attention, nearly none of the enemies could reach the tree. When they did get there, they ate up all my upgrades. Which makes the game basically reset itself.
The spiders don't seem to get stronger the more you have past 4 or so.
For a Ludum Dare game, it's quite good. For a finished product, it's almost there. As a polished product, it's quite lacking.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm aware of the lack of descriptors/meters, and a general sense of what's going on? As well as the balance. I didn't think someone would find the sounds so repetitive/annoying.

Very good game, one thing that I would like to see would be more things to upgrade and season changes, that would be REALLY awesome! :)
