Reviews for "Renaine [OLD KS BUILD II]"

gameplay:
the random generation of the levels was kinda cool, even if some chunk are repeated, it was not a problem because the game still active, you have to think differently each chunk. the only problem (and unfortunately a big one) is that there is no heal and it's really frustrating because the boss is really hard when you lost some hp during the level (for here it's ok but for the full game, it will be really annoying during the hard levels) so maybe you could add some health during the level . still, I give you a full star.

graphism:
it's original andI kinda like it. even in pixel art, we reconize every thing so great job with it. add a cool animation in this and here you have a full star.

sound:
we have a sound well chosen for each action and the music is really cool. I'm even currious to here the complete playlist once I beat the final game. I give you a full star

story:
well we have a begining, but I guess the scenario is the last part you'll be working on. I's true I don't know why I go into this forest and why I have to defeat that statue. probably we'll know why in the final game but we could have some text to explain the minimum. but at least we have som npc's that make the game more alive so you have a half star.

fun and bug:
I had a lot of fun while playing the game but a lot of bugs still here (level or boss music in the village after dying and the hero fossilized in the walls) so you have a half star.

that make 4 stars. but It's the cote for a demo or a flash game. this is really promising and I'll take a look at the game devellopment. great job with this.

Love it. The music caught me by surprise but it's wonderful. The artstyle is great.

Now for some glitches, since this is in development.
-Birdhunter emblem doesn't seem to do anything for me.
-Emblems stay equipped after you die, but their effects stop working, whether you go to town or respawn. You can fix it by re-equipping the emblems.
-got pushed into the ground by moving platforms a few times, though I was able to move out once the platform moved.

It has INCREDIBLE potential. The art and music are absolutely top-notch. There's SO MUCH new stuff. It's very charming, but the biggest flaw by far might just be the most important thing. The gameplay is very flawed. The controls are very slippery. I understand making the platforming feel light in a game like this, however, you just fall into pits accidentally and it's near impossible to jump on a moving enemy's head. I guess that's why you have the sword. Also, the chompy is way overpowered. Also, the rolling is kinda difficult, especially when landing from the high jump. Please fix these things and you'll have a great game.

I absolutely -love- this game. However, it is a little too glitchy for me to give it a full 5 star.

Things I love:
The aesthetic of it. Absolutely great art style to it.
The music. The music was a nice, refreshing change from the typical fantasy tropes. That poppy jazz was delightful
The mechanics and upgrade aspects. I love games where I can pick and choose how I play.

What I didn't like: I really wish the roll button were a different button than down+jump. On joysticks that can feel a bit inaccurate (compared to a d-pad). I have 4 trigger buttons I'd love it if it could be mapped to that.

50/50: I liked that the levels were procedurally generated, It gave it a 'roguelike-lite' feel, but I also feel that it needs a little more variety in the 'pieces' available for that. (Obviously this is just a demo, but I want to give honest feedback so the best game comes out at the end.) I often felt myself going 'wait, what? didn't I go through here?"

The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars: Way too glitchy. I encountered many glitches. Things pushing me into walls, switches that wound up 'below' the ground line and forced me to restart.

During the first boss fight, I died and the boss music continued to play when I returned to the village, and the 'slow down' effect became permanent. Twice I jumped onto a moving platform and fell completely through it. After the first time I fought the boss, I had a permanent 'fall' effect going on. Every couple of seconds the character made the motion and sound as if hitting the ground, even if I was just standing still or walking. On occasion, that would cause me to fall through floors.

I -really- look forward to the next update of this and hope that the kickstarter goes well, but I have to judge -this- demo for its greatness and its flaws, not for what I hope it will be.

Best of luck!

when i press X it doesnt get sword and my health bar is at full even tho my enemyes slash throw me.... it is a demo so why would i be surprised
