I always thought I was a squirrel, but I could never draw an anthropomorphic squirrel that looked like me, or even had any connection to me. Not to mention a squirrel's lack of distinguishing features that prevent a humanoid one from being recognizable. As I continued experimenting, a raccoon just seemed to 'fit.' So yah, it's a fursona. And no, I'm not trying to compensate anything.
