Oh boy... That was a painful one, and a good lesson for the future.

Be prepared, this is going to be a bit of a vent.

Nico commissioned me a headshot of his pony back in September 2023, and it was supposed to be a quick and easy job... Well, it took over a year.

There were external things that slowed me down a lot, like my failure at art school which crushed all artistic motivation, but as always, it was my perfectionism that got the better of me. Especially with this fucking braid : I'd never drawn before and never want to draw again, I spent weeks trying to get it right and it was a nightmare.

Even the final version (because, of course, I started from scratch several times), which I worked on daily, took me almost two months from sketch to shading. That's ridiculous.

There's simply no way I can make a living from my art with such a disturbing workflow, a sick obsession with perfection and an inability to focus ; I should seriously seek professional help for this.

Nico has been refunded for this shitshow, even though he wants to return the money to me because, fortunately, he loved my final work.

OK, let's be positive for a second ; I love the result too, the shading is the best work I've done so far ! A bit difficult, but very satisfying.

And I also love the details on the camcorder, it really lightens up the whole drawing for me (for the curious nerd, it's a Panasonic NV-MC10)
