A TRAIIIIN :D
universal background: i started work on these models in roblox studio in either june or july of this year, and once i started i basically kept modeling stuff daily until i finally burned out about a week ago while i was working on an entire-ass train in studio for whatever reason (even if simplified massively)
specific background- yea i made at least a few models if that wasn't blatantly obvious by now
this dump starts at the end of july and ends with what ultimately burnt me out. this is when i started my railroading stuff (which is why i've skimmed over the final flavor of crates here) and also modeled two funky-ass blast doors. the rail stuff started innocently enough with some basic track, some signals, and a neat bridge, but then escalated into a whole-ass main line with signal bridge and the now highly foreshadowed whole-ass luxury train.
here was the planned consist, listed from the head-end to the rear w/ finished cars marked in bold:
1x cab/control loco (this was what burnt me out actually!)
2x boosters (locos w/o full controls)
1x blank/empty car
2x coach-sleeper (couchette in quasi-private compartments, 2 toilets)
1x half-and-half coach-sleeper and lounge (same as above for coach-sleeper section)
1x kitchen car (no pass. accommodation besides the ability to look inside the kitchen itself)
1x diner car (table seating, was planned to have a bar but i couldn't fit one in satisfyingly, based on the NYC 20th Century Limited [mostly in lighting])
1x half-and-half separated lounge compartments (2+2, 2 couches to a compartment) and small bedrooms
1x small bedroom sleeper
1x 1st-class sleeper
1x lounge endcar (would have been based on the NYC 20th Century Limited's endcar)
of note, the cab exterior was technically finished at one point! however, i wasn't satisfied with the look whatsoever, and so decided to restart.
the initial design was based on baldwin's "sharknose" cabs, and the plan for the redo was to do an alco streamlined nose instead.
inspirations below (not mine):
finally, i am excluding some pictures of the train here (notably the exterior and the kitchen) as they're fairly easy to predict the appearance of.
the icon on this one is my scale dummy, fredrickson. he's sized to the same dimensions as a regular roblox character in R6 (5 studs tall overall, 4 wide overall, 2 wide at the legs, 1 thick overall) and sees use from me trying to formulate a decent size/scale for things. he absolutely carried initial work on the train btw
A TRAIIIIN :D
a fancy-ass one to be specific!!!!!!!
