Lately I've been teaching myself a bit of animation basics, with The Animator's Survival Kit as a guide!

This thing started off as a doodle sketch, back when there was this meme going around on Twitter of characters licking lemons and having sour faces. I just thought it'd be funny to see it animated. So with the help of GIMP's animation feature (and some know-how I picked up from the book), I was able to do so!

I made this on Wednesday (8/21), the day before I started the lemon lick animation. I was practicing movement and timing with it. This was also drawn in GIMP.

I do want to try some actual pencil-and-paper animation at some point, but for these li'l animations, GIMP did the job. But hey, I'm having loads of fun! (And naturally, this is my way of saying that I stand with animation.)
