HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
The lower portion is traditional artwork done in Prismacolor pencils and scanned into Photoshop. I had to redraw the traditional portion twice. Like we all know too well when dealing with traditional materials, sometimes you mess up so much that all you can do is start over. I felt like the process was almost poetic with what the piece is trying to convey.
I wanted to show the conflict and juxtaposition the two mediums create. Digital trying harder and harder to phase traditional out, while traditional art is still holding on.
I have a bias toward traditional art because of the beauty it can create and the hard work the process can be. Though unforgiving, I feel traditional artwork captures something just a little more. I always have a special fondness toward the artwork I create in traditional media. Digital is much faster and more forgiving, so while I love it for that, I doubt it will ever truly phase out traditional media.
