Wow, that took a long time.

ORIGINALLY , i was only going to make a little table like the one that you see here but i had to go the extra mile and make font file to where you can use it in your laptop, all because i thought it'd be funny to code with it.

you can use this font however the hell you want, you can print a mug or a shirt that has this font. use it in a comic, use it a s webfont, type and print your resume with it.

all i ask is for credit when sensible.

running a blog? using it in a comic? publishing a book using this font? - do credit

making fliers for a lost pet? using it for homework? making a meme? - nahhh

i posted this font in itch.io bc i was planning on using it as a little tipjar but it required taxes work and some other boring shit so i decided against it. oh well

you can also get this font files on this github repo

DEV LOG

this font originated when i was making a mexican lotery(WIP) cards. i needed a thin font for the card name since some of the words are quite long so i made the alphabet but then i needed numbers and i just got the idea of just making a font for gits and shiggles. i came up with the lowercase next and then the random symbols. i wanted to include some cool symbols but because of the thin nature, some couldn't make it in

iu_340195_9298620.png

the top row is symbols that i want to add in the future

the middle is accents and other stuff that im had a hard time implementing before i just gave up, and also things i couldn't find a spot for in the font maker i have

the last row is symbols that i might change in the future because im not sure about the look

the whole process of making this wasn was tedious. from actually coming up with the symbols, to isolating and exporting every single one . to tracing a path and making an SVG and finally placing, testing and spacing every symbol

i used aseprite for the pixel art, gimp for the SVG, and glyphr for the font editor.

it took very long to find a free font editor that dint have a character limit and allowed me to easily set the ascend and descend separately, and scale the svg easily . but glyphr did the trick

end of devlog-----------------------------------------------

i want to answer some questions:

why does M W look like that why dont you take the top/ bottom pixel away?

iu_340196_9298620.png becuse they look like an H. I spent A LOT of time over this small detail and i still think that the way i did it (although questionable) look better than the missing pixel one. i MIGHT change it in the future if i have a change of heart but after so much effort put into it, this is the best solution i have for now.

why the 5x3 restriction?

the mexican lottery project looks and works best with a 5x3 ratio.

why do capital EFL use only 2 spaces?

2 reasons

1 space, in the mexican lottery project, i need a much horizontal space as possible and that one less pixel makes all the difference

2.i think they look good like that. might change it in the future to have more consistency

why the name 5:30 AM?

its a 5x3 ration and AnyMany is my username.

what is ___ symbol?

here is a list of some of the symbols that might be confusing

next to the parenthesis, its a % symbol

then after the square brackets is (in order)

vertical line ,colon ,semicolon ,period ,comma ,backslash ,forward slash

plus or minus ,dollar sign ,cent ,yen ,GBP ,quarter note ,eight note ,flat ,natural

hashtag/pound sign(ik, i tried my best) ,derivative, square root, section sign(the one they use for laws and shit), @ , Japanese katakana character for "tsu", and a checkered pattern (idk why)

any(many) ways,

I really hope ya'll like it. and i hope yall have fun using it
