"Smile sis"
" >:( "
Definitely some anger.
I absolutely love the awkward smile on the older girl. It's like they're both looking in the mirror and she's giving her an encouraging, "See, look how cute you are" smile whereas the young girl just looks totally done with this, like she's not having any of it.
I also love how you did their hair and the furry bits of their clothes. The lighting on them is very well done.
The atmosphere of the room is also well done. It looks kind of sparse, so it strikes me as one of those works rooms, like where one might practice dancing. Based on the makeup, I'd assume this is at a theater/studio, and this is a place in the back where the actors can get ready.
I also like the touches you added that make this seem to be a pov of them looking into the mirror. The cracks in the corner, and what I assume is the back of the younger girl's head.
I'll also add that I love their outfits/accessories. Her mom/sister/friend is right, they really do look great :D
(also also, I lol'ed at the description. You and your sweaty cheeks should invest in some ac ;p (because you definitely can't sacrifice the coffee... though maybe you could have it iced?))
It was inspired by an old vintage gypsy style look. I've been told several times how my work generally has creepy or melancholic vibes, so I figured I'd just embrace that. So I've been just looking for reference to increase that feeling, and old vintage styles just fit that. I've been also embracing narrative pieces as well(even if they're simple), so I just try to add something of story value to what would have been just a cool looking image.
To which you and Vulps are right about the story and general feel of this piece. I have an AC, but not working as efficient.
