What a tragic soul.
HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
After a year or so, I've decided to pretty much bring Shawn back again to where he's meant to be, a Henchmen OC (as intended). Personally, I haven't been a fan of how he's been interpreted in roleplays and such so I've decided to give him a fresh new redesign as well as some tweaks to his backstory.
Anyways, here's Shawn McKinley-Valencia, a 21 year old foot soldier who lives like he's in the 2008 MySpace era and has been that way since he was 13.
He's the kinda guy who doesn't say much but is willing to express himself through music since it helps him a lot to channel his emotions in a healthy way. Despite having an emo aesthetic, he wants others to find something worth living for and be happy for it. He doesn't like being the center of attention by the other henchmen just because he's good in close combat. He has no problem with the Tankmen, but because his faction are enemies with them, it's hard for him to express any hate towards them.Β His family unfortunately died some time ago due to a food shortage. Both his parents have literally and figuratively sacrificed all that they had (including food) to keep him alive and healthy. He was the only survivor left and the only reason he joined the Henchmen at 18 was because he had no where else to turn to.
Under the three years he remained in the Henchmen, Shawn raised up to the ranks due to his excellent and strategic combat skills, thus having him be the Weapons Specialist of the army. However, his service in the Henchmen base came at a cost: his sanity. After completing boot camp at 19, Shawn was, of course put to work, having him be sent in dangerous and life threatening missions in order to see his potential. As successful as he was killing every enemy Tankmen in the heart of battle, Shawn would eventually suffer from intense guilt from taking away the life of those he had killed. All of this eventually eats away at his sanity and in order for him to not lose himself entirely, he was put under a lot of medication (including giving him Sertraline). Unfortunately, he would have to live with the amount of nightmares and insomnia, reliving past memories of murdering Tankmen soldiers and having their spirits haunt him for the rest of his life. To him, he would probably call all of that Karma biting him in the ass.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's all I have to show for. I really love how he turned out and I look forward to expanding his story more soon. ^_^
Tankmen series belongs to @JohnnyUtah.
Shawn belongs to me.
