This is my entry for Jazza's "SuperSpellHeroes" competition. Upon finding out about Thoben being a monk and his ingame ability being light I did some research on medieval, European monks and came up with this concept:
Thoben is a monk born exactly 500 AD and in his monastery he is barely even noticed. He studies astrology and even though nobody knows it he is by far the best in his field. Drawing power from the light trapped in a singularity far far away from earth he manages to do things that, if they were ever found out about, would only be able to be explained as magic. One of his greatest achievements is successfully summoning and capturing the feared demon Akedia, also called "noonday evil" (essentially the demon of idleness, you can google it), and using astral energy he now controls it, prolonging his life by about 3 million years and making him the most powerful man on earth.

Total time taken to create: ~27 hours (yes I know that's absurdly long for a result like this)

First of all, I am so excited I can finally take part in one of your challenges Jazza and even though I have not been part of the Newgrounds community for long at all I have loved to look at all other entries.
My biggest challenge with this piece was definitely combining my personal style with the very comic-like style of the game cohesively. I personally think it lacks depth and a certain shine but I definitely did all I could. Let me know what you think of it (you can be brutally honest if you like) and give me some feedback of how you think I could have done better!!
