Actually, I was planning to do this drawing back in 2022 since it had been five years since I saw Green Day live on April Fools Day, but I didn't get around to it. Now, it will be about seven years since then, and "21st Century Breakdown" has grown on me as a favorite from a Green Day album. The feel I was going for with this piece is I wanted to have a mid-2000s alternative scene type of atmosphere but knowing how to relearn Windows XP MSPaint and its limited features would be impossible. The heavy use of reference images I had to use included one made by my partner and me from VRChat. Lighting isn't my strong suit either so I trusted my gut and the lighting from the official music video to guide me.
