Song of the South (1946) is a very under appreciated and misunderstood classic in the Walt Disney library. It’s no where as racist as people believe. Those who think this movie is racist have probably only seen the animated segments. As a fan of classic 2D animated Disney films I believe they are best watched on VHS. But the film was never officially released on home video in the United States. (Though it was released overseas. Kinda unfair if you ask me). Since I want to own every 2D animated Disney film there is I had to get a bootleg VHS of it that actually plays on an American VCR just so I could have it in my Walt Disney VHS collection. Any classic Disney fan should own this film as it was a creation from Walt. Disney just needs to man up and release the film. I’ll probably get me a bootleg DVD of the film as well for backup purposes.
