My Oasis: Sky Battle

It's 11:00 PM on the 26th here as I submit this, so I'm going to go ahead and say I'm still within the time limit. Go easy on me, Jazza! I was horrendously sick these past couple weeks and ended up falling way behind and finishing last minute. :P

I've never seen a sculpture submitted for Challenge of the Month, but I haven't seen any rules against it either, so...

Here it is! My submission to Draw With Jazza's Challenge of the Month for March 2018! I've always loved playing Pokemon, and it's often been an escape from the real world for me. I've also always loved making Pokemon art! I got my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Gold when I was six years old, and it's Nintendo DS remakes Heart Gold and Soul Silver are still some of my favourite Pokemon games!

Lugia is definitely one of the coolest legendary Pokemon, and Dragonite is one of my most favourite Pokemon since childhood. So here my Dragonite and I are exploding out of our Nintendo DS to do battle in the sky with Lugia. This is probably one of the most ambitious polymer clay projects I've ever done, and even though I wasn't well enough to put as much time into it as I would have liked, I'm extremely pleased with the outcome.

Materials: Polymer clay on a wooden art base (wire, tinfoil, and hot glue armatures), with acrylic paint, chalk pastels, and UV resin.

I also have a video where I show the sculpture and talk about how I made it: https://youtu.be/lYJe0PhqSEg

This is so cool! I remember when Pokemon first came out (back in the mid to late 90s). We had basic channels and the show would come on every weekday morning around 7:30am which meant I could catch an episode before school.

Even though the channel it showed on had mysterious issues while showing it, I was still able to catch the movies on DVD, some episodes during the May and Dawn arcs and some glimpses from my nephew's viewing sessions. He's now into it too and is watching all the episodes from the very first installment. Awesome execution and presentation.

Superb work.

I love this! Very original, both the idea behind it and the way you executed this! I hope your entry gets an inclusion... or at least a shoutout. So cool!

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it! :D
