This looks like something that took a lot of effort.
What strikes me about this work is the clash of themes. The expression of the subject is very dark, yet the colors fill me with anticipation and joy. The title doesn't help at all in what this work might be trying to relay.
I've given up trying to interpret this work. I don't understand it; which makes it even more alluring. Enlighten me maybe?
When i read this review i thought about it for a moment. You ask me what this picture means and you tell me you sat and reflected on it. You talk of a clash between color and subject. YOur comment reminded me of a song called "the machine" by Lemon Demon, particularly this section of that song.
"Lost in solipsism
he then slowly pulls a lever
which sets off a mechanism
which does nothing whatsoever
but the nothing that it does
negates the everything we know
because it's screaming "Just because!"
because it's neither friend or foe
and so we label it a menace
or a grandiose work of art.
From its finale to its genesis
we slowly pull it all apart.
That's the beauty of it--
It doesn't do anything, do anything."
Only how it relates here is "That's the beauty of it-- It doesn't mean anything, mean anything." This picture was conceived as a way to test out a art style. I used myself as a basic reference and then tried out a few color schemes until i got what we see here. Its funny, in an ironic sense, that you say the person has a very dark expression because thats not what i intended nor is it what i see. I wonder if perhaps the title of the picture clouded your judgment or perhaps my relation to it clouded mine. Whatever the case is i thank you for reviewing and taking the time to ponder on this image, im only sorry that it turns out there really isnt anything to it.
Oh and as for the name, i was talking to my girlfriend at the time this picture was done and i showed it to her. She said to call it macaroni and i said i didnt like that name so she called me "Horrible just horrible! Your so mean!" so i decided "Horribly Mean" was a decent enough title.
This doesnt really concern the image but i thought ide throw it out there. Most if not all of my pictures have no meaning. Ive spent so much time trying to learn and improve my skills that i never actually convey anything when i speak. Ive finally gotten toa point where i can create images to sucha degree that i could say something, i just have to figure out what it is i wnat to say.
