Despite its appearance, GORUGONA is not a reptile or a dinosaur, but an early relative of mammals. In fact, it is a survivor of the Third Purge during the Permian period. The apex predator of its time, this hunter has a special affinity for fire, capable of feeding on it and storing it for attacks such as a fire breath and a fiery shockwave, though not as effectively as Nikkugon. Combined with its savage knife-like teeth and brute strength, Gorugona is the perfect predator of the time before the dinosaurs. When Necrotherius came to Earth and caused the Third Purge, Gorugona was one of the lucky survivors; his species went into hibernation. One was sighted off the coast of Japan, causing multiple shipwrecks and feeding on the crews. It eventually made landfall, making the existence of giant monsters known to the world. Fortunately, Gorugona is not evil by nature; he is a simple predator constantly looking for enough food to sustain his mass.
