Mermaid #5: the Guitar artist

Meet Blaise the Artist,

Lorebomb:

Blaise is a lake Naiad. She belongs to an indigenous territorial naiad tribe which she has long forgot about its culture. Now, she spends most of her time alone in her lake where she has been self-teaching various artistic skills such as music and tattoo. As a naiad, she possesses an incredible singing trait that could mesmerize "surfacer". Naiad often lure men with their singing into their ponds where they can devour their prey. That's how she acquires a guitar and different tools for creating art. Blaise, unlike most Naiad, has a special ability granted by a friend whom she will encounter soon. She can transit between legs and mermaid tail on demand. This allows her to finally step outside of her comfort-zone (her lake). Packed with curiosity, she is eager to travel across an unknown world, filled with excitement and danger equally for inspiration.

Likes: taking a bath, tattoo, playing guitar, her pet seal Selkie, being snarky

Dislikes: Missionary, lectures, over-socializing, mutants and seafood

Here is the original thought behind her.

Very nice

So here was another cool mermaid, the blending and texture of the skintones are very deep onlything I might ad would be the backrpound maybe an outter worls or something, just some small details and such, but besides that this was some amazing work you have here.

~~SUGGESTED IDEAS~~
Great character maybe some added backround details.

Ey, that's pretty cool! I really like the new design. I don't know why, it kinda reminds me of the general art and design style of "Crypt of the NecroDancer", have you heard of that game? I also love Blaise's backstory and characterization, she seems like someone I'd love to read a story about, and I like the inclusion of a plot hook and potential for character development. Only two things I have to criticize. One, her boobs don't appear to be affected by physics. They seem to stick out to the side a little too much. I could be wrong, though, I might just not have enough experience drawing boobs. (Snrk.) Two, I see what you did there so that it looks like her legs are made of a split tail, but the result is that those feet look too tiny to stand on. Those are just a couple minor fixes, though. Overall, this is great art and a great character.

DatCakeIzEhPai responds:

I have heard of the game but never played it. It wasn't really the main inspiration but now you said it, maybe I should apply some. Glad that you like her. The story is going the right direction but I still need to work on some details connecting the dots with other characters in my series. Yes, her boobs unfortunately kinda off as her right is kinda slopped down abit than the left (still getting used to with new art-style). As for feet, I'm making some adjustment on her next artwork, along with other characters as well. I can't tell you when I can debut them but it would be by weekly once I'm done with every character. Thank you!

She's a great character, and I enjoy the lore of her. It's something I haven't seen done before, and she's really unique. And she's very likeable and pleasant to look at. ;)

Keep up the great work, people appreciate seeing your hard work!

I love her new design! While I still love the original design too, this one tells me loads about her personality, and then there's that adorable little seal, great job on the redesign!

DatCakeIzEhPai responds:

Thank you as always! It is a journey when it comes to this character. She now has a special place in my heart. I never thought she would become a mermaid in the first place tho.

Love her design, and her expression too!
